HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-07/17/2003 Minutes of the Budget Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on July 17, 2003, at the Park District office at 12900 Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with Commissioners Gerard Goehringer, Chairman, and Jerome Zuhoski, present, together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline Haas, Secretary, Gall Faircloth, Gate Guard Attendant, Frank Kowalesky and Alex Martin, Park maintenance men, Greg Fisher, taxpayer, Abigail Wickham, Park Attorney. Absent: Walter Sabat. Chairman Goehringer opened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. On motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the minutes of the June meeting were approved as presented. Brush's vehicles and former owner Silkworth-Brisotti garage. Gail Wickham to write back to Mr. Cuddy. The fence has been replaced at the Veterans' Park site for the sum of $970.00. An agreement had been reached with the driver who drove his car through the fence that he would pay the bill as soon as it was sent to him. It hasn't been paid.. Gail Wickham to write a letter to collect. Gail Wickham presented the contract of sale with Mr. McCarthy for the Park District building at 12900 Main Road, Mattituck, NY for a sum of$110,000.00- all cash. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski and carded, the contract was signed by Gerard Goehringer as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. The proposed budget was presented by Treasurer Cushman and discussed. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski and camed, they approved the proposed budget to be advertised in Suffolk Times for three weeks as notice to the resident taxpayers of the date of the vote. The notice will also contain a Resolution asking the taxpayers to empower the Commissioners to sell the Park property situated at 12900 Main Road,:Mardtuck, New Y0rk~ to Thomas J. McCarthy for the sum of $110,000.00 , Alex Martin gave an update on all the mowers. veterans Park closing gates were discussed. Alex Martin said he would do the closing of all the parks. The Commissioners agreed that while construction of the new building is going on, there will have to be some security at the site. They will take care of that. Commissioners reported a new roof is being put on the Lodge at Bailey Beach and on the concession building at Breakwater site. Gerry Goehringer reported that Miller Environmentals has a beach cleaner. It's two years old and never been used. They want to sell it. Gerry will make arrangements to see it operate. Mrs. Sidlauskas came into the meeting with a letter from her sister, Carla Timpone, who could not be present due to a prior commitment. She had written a previous letter regarding several things she felt should be taken care of at the Veterans' Park site, and having seen none of them done, she was presenting her letter again. Mr. Goehringer explained why these things have not been done. The new building is going to take care of several of the items. Due to the untimely length that it has taken to secure all the governmental permits to start the new building, another season has gone by. The building should be started fight after the 1st of September, 2003. No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Gerry Goehringer, and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
