HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/12/2004 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on August 12, 2004 at the Mattituck Fire House in a classroom on the second floor, Pike Street, Mattituck, New York, with Commissioners Gerard Goehringer and Tom McCaffery present, together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline Haas, Secretary, Mr. Williams, a volunteer of the District. Chairman Jerome Zuhoski entered the meeting late. At 7:00 P.M. the Inspectors of Election, Barbara Goehringer and Gall Faircloth, were sworn in and the polls were ordered open for the vote on the 2005 proposed budget. Geny Goehringer reported that he had toured the new construction at the Veterans' Memorial Park and everything seemed alright. He had a call from the contractor who said the plans did not specify whether there was an overhang on the building. He needed to know because he had to order the trusses. Gerry Goehfinger also reported that Warren Sambach is sick and no longer in business. His son is hoping he will be back in business again but he does not have much hope for that. Mr. Williams said the roof on the new building is not going to be approved by the Building Department. Mr. Williams is an engineer and the way the roof is constructed, it will collapse if any amount of weight lays on it such as snow. Gerry Goehringer reported that he had a meeting with Gall Wickham regarding the project of bulkheads and jetties. Gall asked for priorities easterly and westerly of Veterans Park and Yacht Club and Love Lane sites. Letter received from Mr. James H. Bergeron, a member of the Marlene Association. His letter was regarding the chain link fence that the Park District erected along the westerly line of the Veterans Park property where the rail fence had been erected previously. Mr. Goehringer dictated a letter to the secretary to be sent back to him. The Aldrich Lane site of the new building was discussed. To dig the trench, to clear the area and bring in 200 yds of sand would be $3,600.00. The Inspectors of Election counted the ballots and reported 33 voters reg~slqrec~, 32 ballots cast, 22 ballots YES, 9 ballots NO, One (1) ballot VOID. Budget as presented for 2005 duly passed.
