HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/03/1960~ov. 3, A meeting of the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Park COmmission was held on the above date at the home of Frank Rogers, Main Road, Cutchogue, The following commissioners were present: Cox,,in Grathwohl~ Curtis W. Herren and Frank Rogerse Attox~ey Wickhanwas also p~esent. Regarding the election of 2 commissioners whose terms expire on Dec. 2, 19&O Mr. Wickham stated the new Act specified, "the qualified voters shall elect 1 commissioner for a term of 2 years and 1 commissioner for a term of 3 years. Notice of the election must be published at least once in a local newspaper, 29 days before the date of the election. The candidates for District offices shall file their names with the Secretary of the Joa~d of Commissioners at least 10 days prior to t he date of the District elections and such nominations shall be s~;~mitted in petition form subscribed by qualified voters of the District". Mr. Wickham stated he would see that the notice of the coming election for co,-,issioners is published in the Long Island Traveler at least twice before the election. Mr. Or'athwohl reported that he and Mr. Rotten had met with Mr. Villa, Dist Engineer of the Suffolk County Dept. of Health to discuss possible park sites. Discussion followed regarding possible sources of fresh water at the Causeway property. Mr. Norton made a motion to put a test well to test for fresh water on the Causeway property. Motion was seconded by Frank Rogers. Ail were in favor. Motion carried. Mr. Grathwohl agreed to make all necessary arrange- ments for the test. A letter dated Sept. ~, 195~ had been written to the Suffolk County Plamning ~card at Rauppange, N.Y. welcoming any suggestions they may have regarding the development of the Causeway property. A map of the property had also been mailed to the Planning Board. No reply had ~een received to date. -2- ~r. ~orton stated he had contacted Harold Price, Southold Supt. of Highways. Mr. Price advised moving the road to the west of the present road on the Causeway property, Mr. Wiokham stated negotiations with M~. Lundberg, Atox~ney f or the Nassau ~oint Causeway Association, were progressing. He hopes t o have the option ready in t he near future. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:$~ Secretary
