The requested for a grant extension for the Laurel Lake Preserve
grant from the Long Island Office of the NYS Office of Parks,
Recreation and Historic Preservation has been approved.
???
Completed damage assessments for submittal to FEMA for the
December 26 & December 27, 2010 storm.
???
Review options and developing cost for repair of Town, Kenney’s
and McCabe’s Beaches.
???
Removed the signs and trail markers used for the 2010 Deer
Management Program. In total. 162 deer were harvested in the 2010
Program, with 145 deer being donated to a food pantry or
individuals.
???
On going trail maintenance on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm,
Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road
Preserves.
???
Received reimbursement from the NYSDOS, in the amount of
$30,777.25, for work completed to date at the Bittner Preserve.
???
The 20011 dredging of Goldsmith Inlet has been completed.
???
Working with LIPA and Verizon on the removal of poles/wire at
the Bittner Preserve. Cost reimbursement from a grant from the
NYSDOS.
???
DPW staff is working on several tasks at the Peconic Community
Center (Lighting, removal of damaged floor tiles, finish work around
newly installed heating vents, minor demolition).
???
Working on several of the recommendations of the Executive
Safety Committee.
???
Reviewing the proposed RFP for the Animal Shelter and items
for discussion in reference to the future Animal Shelter Contract.
???
Attended several meetings in reference to proposed
improvements to the Southold Animal Shelter, as part of the
Morrelli Foundation gift.
???
Received a check from an insurance company to replace a street
light damaged by a vehicle, on Route 25, Cutchogue.
???
Attended a Department and a Parks and Recreation Meeting.
???
The DPW is looking at the feasibility of the department staff saw
cutting the concrete and trenching for the installation of conduit
between the Highway Department Office and adjacent barn, as part
of the installation of the new fuel monitoring system.
