Enclosed please find calculations indicating the total buoyancy tomes which would be exerted on the tank should a flood of elevation 12.0 (6 feet above the bulkhead) occur along with corresponding calculations / analysis of the proposed anchoring hardware and total hold down Icad provided by anchoring structures. It is noted that the flood elevation of 12.0 was chosen for analysis as a "worst case" scenado as it would be up to the top level of the tank'e outer containment dike, if the flood elevation were higher, the tank dike would fill with water which in turn would counteract the buoyancy forces completely. It is our understanding that the Town is requesting that the proposed structure be certified for compliance with current wind Icad regulations. It is noted that while we are not in posseesion of any specific wind Icad testing of the subject tank and its appurtenances and as such cannot provide same. It is noted that the tank and dike are constructed of ¼' thick welded steel and all the piping and appurtenances to be affixed to the tank will also all be of steel or other metallic materials. As such, it can be concluded that wind loading will NOT be a factor for concern for damage to this tank or its appurtenances. Please contact our office with any questions or concerns you may have.
