Re: Proposed New Zoning
Town of Southold
Judith T. Terry, Town Clerk
Town of Southold
Main Road
Southold, NY 11971
Dear Mrs. Terry,
It has come to my attention ( my reading of a map printed on page 16 of
The Suffolk Times edition 1-15-87 ) that the proposed new zoning
ordinance for the Town includes a new zoning category for my site
( 49.-1-25.1 and 7-1-16 ) to a classification of P~R from its present
M Light Multiple-Residence. As you know, I have obtained a building
permit to construct condominiums upon that site and therefore am
not affected by any change in zoning status.
Nonetheless, I wish to respectfully petition the Town Board and the
Zoning Board to provide my site with Hamlet Density classification
instead of the proposed RR so that, in the event of a catastrophe
causing destruction of more than 50% of construction, condominiums
may be re-constructed ( in such a case ) upon the site, thereby
protecting the Owners.
I further understand that it is the intention of the Town Board and
the Zoning Board to re-classify all presently zoned M Light Multiple-
Residence parcels to Hamlet Density and I believe that my site should be
so considered, particularly in view of the construction I am% now
engaged in as well as the difficulties I have experienced in the recent
past.
I believe that my petition has merit and request that it be brought to
the attention of both boards.
Thank you for your continued interest~
