Mr. Turner proceeded to explain the preliminary planning goarls as
outlined and displayed to the Planning Board the previous day.

The overall retention of agricultural land retained is 10,000 acres.
Question was raised regarding problems with the medium density pro-
posed near East Marion. The expansion of marine commercial areas
was stated as a definite need in the town. It was the concensus of
those present that the Mill Creek area would not be practical for
residential because of the clay. Extension of Soundview Avenue was
discucussed with utilization of clustering on the sound. It was
estimated that an airport would require 60-100 acres, 10 of which
would be used for the business. Opposition was stated on the pro-
posed commercial area in Cutcho~ue. The Group was in agreement for
the expansion of Resort Commercial areas. TDR's, farmland preserva-
tion and tax abatements were discussed. The Group asked Mr. Turner
if the display map could be refined and a smaller reproduction be
made for each member of the Group to study. Mr. Turner stated he
would try to reproduce them for each member.
The meeting adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan E. Long, Secretary
Southold Town Planning Board
