Requested a grant extension for the Laurel Lake Preserve grant from the Long Island Office of the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and that request has been forwarded to Albany. ?? On going trail maintenance on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm, Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road Preserves. ?? Reviewed the report submitted by eDesign Dynamics, in reference to their proposal in connection with the dredging of Goldsmith Inlet. ?? Attended a meeting with Jamie Richter and the two contractors involved in the 2011 dredging of Goldsmith Inlet to look a the site conditions at the Inlet and the Bittner Preserve. Latham Sand & Gravel will start on January 7, 2011 and Chesterfields will be on site th on January 10. ?? Working with LIPA and Verizon on the removal of poles/wire at the Bittner Preserve. ?? The demolition of Southold Scavenger Waste Plant has been completed, except for seeding, which will take place in the spring of 2011. ?? The heating system has been installed at the Peconic Community Center and the contractor is now installing the heating & AC duct work. ?? DPW staff is working on several tasks at the Peconic Community Center (Lighting, removal of damaged tiles, finish work around newly installed heating vents, minor demolition). ?? Working on several of the recommendations of the Executive Safety Committee. ?? On-going work with the Army Corps of Engineers in reference to the Mattituck Inlet Dredging Project. ?? Attended several meetings in reference to the punch list of items in need of attention at the Animal Shelter and future items for discussion in reference to the future Animal Shelter Contract. ?? Attended several meetings in reference to proposed improvements to the Southold Animal Shelter, as part of the Morrelli Foundation gift. ?? Renovations (new carpet, tile floors, and painting) to the Southold Highway Department Offices have been completed. ?? The DPW is looking at the feasibility of the department staff saw cutting the concrete and trenching for the installation of conduit between the Highway Department Office and adjacent barn, as part of the installation of the new fuel monitoring system. ?? Attended a meeting in reference to the installation of cell towers on Town of Southold properties.
