TOPIC DISCUSSION ACTION
Review of Previous Minutes Minutes from 10/27 meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Guest Speaker 94-year-old author Alison Hegeman and Martha Carter read excerpts
from Alison's new book ACT III. This is her third book and it is
different vignettes of her life. The cost of the book is $10.00 and all the
proceeds from the book go to CAST.
Karen McLaughlin:
Southold Town Senior Greenport Rotary donated poinsettias for
Services Report distribution to homebound seniors. Mattituck select chorus will be
performing at the Center on 12/21.
Jean DeLorme
: Katinka House census is 13. Discussed issues related to
integrating younger Alzheimer’s patients into Katinka House and the
lack of groups for this population. Will be exploring service
enhancement in 2011.
Jackie Martinez
: 516 shelf stable meals were distributed to homebound
seniors and congregate diners for use during inclement weather. Suffolk
County DOH did a falls prevention program at the center that was very
well received. They will be returning next year. The Center will host
line dancing on 1/3/11.
Mental Health Integration Wellness series on 12/3 on Good Emotional Health was well attended.
Grant Juliet met with Colleen Merlo from the MHA to develop next year’s
Senior Options and Solutions programs, which will include an open discussion group quarterly.
Discussed telepsych consultations that took place on 12/2 at Dr Buono’s
practice, this serves to assist with providing needed
psychiatry/care/consultation for seniors on the North Fork.
Jay Slotkin, MD:
Agency Reports Alzheimer’s presentation went well. Discussed status

of East End Alliance PHO as well as PCMH model being considered or
East End via municipalities.
Daphne Shuttleworth:
Comfort Keepers continues to have a pool or
available caregivers.
Choice Medical Transport
: Recently transported patients to Miami
and Maine, they go everywhere! Continues training via Gift of Life
.
programNew stretcher vans being used.
Louise Blackburn
: Introduced Sandra who will be doing
outreach/marketing for Adult Day Health Care. Program is steadily
building. Medicaid has been very helpful in educating on eligibility.
Education programs are being planned, Touro will be presenting at an
upcoming program at the facility.
Stephanie Pacchiano
: United Lifeline has had great success with the
auto alter program. They are also introducing the silver alert tracker
(PERS).
Our next scheduled meeting will be 1/26/11. The 2011 schedule will
continue the last Wednesday of the month at 1:30pm.
