HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/03/2000 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the
Mattituck Park District and the Annual vote on the proposed budget for the 2001 year,
held on August 3, 2000, at the Park District office, Mare Road, Mattituck, New York,
with Commissioners Gerard Goehringer and Walter Sabat; Treasurer, John Cushman;
Secretary, Madeline Haas; Labor Crew Leader, James Cox present. Absent:
Commissioner Chris Talbot. Mr. John Simkus sat in on the meeting as an interested
taxpayer.
Ms. Klm Prokop and Ms. Kathy Wilson entered the meeting. These ladies are
requesting a playground at the Veterans' Memorial site on Peconic Bay Boulevard. They
brought with them an application for a state grant. They have contacted the Lions Club
and Suffolk County National Bank asking for donations to a fund for the playground.
They are also going to get in touch with the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Goehringer
spoke with the ladies and and he would take care of getting the grant application filled
out by the District's attorney, G-ail Wickham. Mr. Goehringer also informed the ladies
that nothing could be done or staxted this year because of the budget funds having been
already allocated for the present year. The ladies thanked the Commissioners for their
time and lel~ the meeting.
On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the
minutes of the July 6t~ meeting and the minutes of the July 18t~ special meeting of the
taxpayers on the referendum for funds for building a new barn at the Veterans Memorial
site and the results of the July 20t~ referendum vote were approved as presented.
On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sahat and carried, the
following Treasurer's report was approved and list of bills ordered paid:

Jim Cox reported an automobile accident at the Yacht Club site took out some of
the chain link fence and lights. Jim to report it to the insurance company.
Gerard Goehringer reported speaking to Warren Sandbach, who is the architect
doing the work for the barn at Veterans Memorial Park. Warren was asked to proceed
with the DEC approval which is a major approval because of the site location.
It was reported that three cellular telephones were ordered and supposed to have
been here by Monday, July 31~t. They still are not in.
Jim Cox reported that the floors are done at Scouters Lodge and should be alright
to walk on now. All that's needed to be done is the exterminator and the roof.
Gerard Goehringer asked Jim Cox to please paint the building at the Breakwater
site.
On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, Charles
Tyler, Jr. was to be hired and then terminated.
G0ra~d Goehrmger gave Mr. Simlms a mn down on the Scouter's Lodge - logs
had to be.sealed, windows replaced, floors re-done and roof repaired.
On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconced by Walter Sabat and carried, the
following budget modifications were made:
