HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-07/18/2000 On July 1 g, 2000 the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held an Informational Meeting and Notice of Referendun of the resident taxpayers of the Park District at the Park District Office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York, at 7:00 P.M. with Commissioners Gerard Goehringerand Chris Talbot present, together with Secretary Madeline S. Haas. Absent: Commissioners Walter Sabat and Treasurer John Cushman, Labor Crew Leader Jim Cox accompanied by Russell Nine, labover, and Avehitcct Warren Sandbach. Attached is a sign-in sheet of interested people who were present. Mr. Goehringer explained the absence of Commissioner Sabat. Mr. Goehringer gave a mn down on why the meeting was called. Mr. Sandbach presented the plans of the new building. Mr. Goehringer stated that the new building would run north and south on the Veteran's Memorial site just west of the existing barn and would house the cbncessi°n stand, bathrooms, meeting room and storage. Upon its completion, the eld barn:and e:~sting concession stand and bathrooms would be torn down. Mr. Goehrihger further stated that this project has to be put out to bid and have to pay prevailing wages. The tax rate for the new building would be $1.01 per hundred of assessment according to the Town Assessors. Mr. Ooehringer explained how the building is going to be built. At this time Mr. Goehringer opened the meeting to the floor for questions. Mr. Ted Wells asked about paying prevailing wages rather than use local labor. Mr. Goehfinger explained all the ins and outs of the Park District regulations. It is a municipality but completely different than other municipalities because of its specific law in Albany on its founding. Mr. Dohm asked whether any grants were looked into. Mr. Goehringer answered "No" because of being held to specifications. The size oftbe building is 60' x 80' plus a shed offthe side. Mr. Goehringe~' then stated that the vote by resident tax payers on this referendum would be held on July 20, 2000 at 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Park District office, Main Road, Mattituck, Neck Y0rkl,: ,H,e. thankedth0,sepresent for their interest and for coming. No further questions being raised, on motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried the meeting ~v~ i~djbumed. Secretary
