HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-07/06/2000 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners held on July 6, 2000, at the Park District Office, Main Road, Mattituck, New York. Commissioners present: Walter Sabat and Chris Talbot, Treasurer: John Cushman, Secretary: Madeline Haas; Labor Crew Leader: Jim Cox. In the absence of Commissioner Gerard Goehringer, Chris Talbot was acting Chairman of the meeting. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the minutes of the June meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Chris Talbot, seconded by Walter Sabat the following Treasurer's report was approved as presented, and the following bills ordered paid: Cash $ 2,582.86 Cash in time 6,658.63 Cash m MBIA/CLAS 153,181,06 Total $162,422.55 Alpha Window Systems, Ltd. James Cox, Sr. Pumillo Electric 55.95 16.76 41.67 365.0O Kathy Wilson, Cheryl Seifert and Klm Prokop entered the meeting to speak about the erection of a playground at Veteran's Memorial Park They showed the plans they had and gave their preference of stainless steel because they do not want to use the treated wood because of the poisonous substance used in the trea~nent of the wood. They had gotten catalogs from GameTime, N.Y.C. Park Structures, Suffolk County Playground Environmental. They said that the Southold Kiwanis would be willing to help with some money. Chris Talbot said that Chairman Goehringer was not available for the meeting and he was the Acting Chairman. He said they would be glad to look things over but the estimate they had given would not be able to come from the Park District budget at the present time because it would have had to been allocated for the 2000 budget which is expiring 12/31/00. The women said they would be willing to do some fund raising and uying to find gifts, grants and con~'ibutions to help in the building of this playground. Both Chris Talbot and Walter Sabat stressed the fact that the playground and the parks in the Mattituck Park District were for Park District residents only. The women's response was that the permits were for three months and then everyone can get in and use the equipment. The women left saying they would be back with more information at a later date. Mr. Vic Catalano of the Mattituck Slo Pitch League entered the meeting in response to the letter the Park District had sent to him regarding the responsibilities of the league and their cooperation with the maintenance. Mr Ralph Nofi from Knollwood Lane, Mattituck entered the meeting regarding Bailey Beach just beyond the barrier. The Commissioners informed him that tbe beach he was talking about belonged to the Town of Southold. Park District beach started west of that are~ He said he did not know that liae area he was troubled with was the Town's property. He also complimenfed Ibc District the way the sites are kept. He then leR. Jim Cox reported that the garbage removal is twice a week. He alaO said that Os.,m.o. nd was power washing the Lodge. He reposed that there are termites in the braiding also. The floor man is going in on the 17 of Jnly. He also said the tractor has the weights on the wheels. Mr. Sie~,g~fried from the Senior Citizens Club requested the Veterans's Park for a BBQ on July 19 and asked if the District could go to Van Duzer's and pick up two gas grills for them. Commissioners agreed to the same. No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Chris Talbot and carried, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted.
