for 1995) of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District,
held on January 5, 1995 at 7:30 P.M. at the Park District office on
Main Road, Mattituck, New York with all Commissioners and Treasurer
John Cushman present.
The first order of business was to organize the Board for the year
1995.
On a motion by Commissioner Sabat, seconded by Commissioner
Goehringer, and unanimously carried, Edward Adams was appointed
Chairman of the Board for the year 1995.
On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by
Commissioner Sabat, and unanimously carried, the official banking
institutions of the District for the year 1995 will be North Fork Bank
and Suffolk County National Bank.
On a motion by Commissioner Goehrlnger, seconded by
Commissioner Sabat, and unanimously carried, the official newspapers
for the District for the year 1995 will be The Suffolk Times and the
Long Island Traveler-Watchman.
On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by
Commissioner Sabat, and unanimously carried, Madeline Haas was named
Secretary for the District for the year 1995.
On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by
Commissioner Sabat, and unanimously carried, Wickham, Wickham, and
Bressler were named Attorneys for the District for the year 1995.
On a motion by Commissioner Sabat, seconded by Commissioner
Goehringer, and unanimously carried, the minutes of the November and
December, 1994 meeting were approved.
On a motion by Commissioner Goehringer, seconded by
Commissioner Sabat, and unanimously carried, the following budget
modification was approved for 1994:

Chairman Adams reported that the replacement of the electrical
service at the Main Road Office is nearly complete, and that the North
Fork Environmental Council will pay 1/3 of the bill.
Chairman Adams reported that the following work at Breakwater
Beach is to be done: Guard rails will be placed on the perimeter of the
parking lot; LILCO will be requested to repair the spot light in the
parking lot; a request will be sent to the Town of Southold Lighting
Committee for 2 additional street lights along Luther Road going into
the Park District parking lot.
Commissioner Goehringer reported that the District is waiting on
the NYS DEC regarding the concession at Breakwater.
Chairman Adams reported that Corazzini Asphalt has provided a
price of $6,000 for a 60' X 120' blacktop basketball court at Vet's
Park. The Commissioners agreed that this project would wait for the
time being.
A new shuffleboard court was suggested by Chairman Adams for
Veterans Park, but was tabled after a brief discussion.
Chairman Adams will investigate the possible installation of a
card key system for the tennis courts; he suggested a $3.00 fee for
lifetime access.
Commissioner Sabat reported that he had discussed the installation
of separate electric service for the Vet's Park concession with LILCO,
and was advised that it did appear practical; LILCO suggested an
analysis of the usage would suffice. After a review of the past
electric bills for Vet's Park, the Commissioners agreed that a $300
payment would be appropriate from the concessionaire to assist the
District in paying the 1995 bills.
Chairman Adams reported that he has asked Labor Crew Leader
Cox on numerous occasions to provide information necessary to defend
the District in the pending McGreevy lawsuit; as yet, Mr. Cox has not
provided the information requested.
The Commissioners requested that Barbara Droskoski be invited to
the March, 1995 meeting to discuss the beaches for 1995.
Commissioner Goehringer reported that Labor Crew Leader Cox has
indicated that a replacement motor is needed for the District's pickup
truck and suggested the new motor be installed by District personnel at
cost of approximately $1200. After a lengthy discussion, the
Commissioners agreed not to replace the motor. An attempt to locate
and possibly purchase a used truck will be made.
On a motion by Commissioner Sabat, seconded by Commissioner
Goehringer, and unanimously carried, the following pay rates were set
for the year 1995 (Labor Crew Leader Jim Cox no change from 1994):

The Commissioners discussed the hiring of a new employee to
oversee the District's maintenance program. The Commissioners will
investigate potential candidates and have requested that Treasurer
Cushman investigate a possible benefit package.
Chairman Adams reported that the Mattituck High School soccer
people will look at the Sabat Field facility to determine if a soccer
field can be placed inside the ball field fence. If if is deemed
reasonable, the District will seed the dirt portions of the field for
soccer use.
On a motion by Commissioner Sabat, seconded by Commissioner
Goehringer, and unanimously carried, the following bills were ordered

No further business to come before the meeting, the meeting was
adjourned on a motion by Commissioner Sabat, seconded by
Commissioner Goehringer and unanimously carried.
