HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-03/02/1995 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on March 2, 1995 at the office of the Park District, Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with all Commissioners, Ed Adams, Chairman, Gerard Goehringer, Walter Sabat~ Treasurer, John Cushman~ Secretary, Madeline Haas, present. Meeting called to order at 7~02 P.M. by Chairman Adams. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat, and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as presented after one correction, ie= $500 to be paid by Environmental Council for electrical work on Park District rather than $698.33 The Treasurer's report and bills to be paid as follows, was approved by motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried: Cash Cash in Time Cash in MBIA/CLASS Total $ 197.79 35,337.78 $157,502.73 Bills ordered paid as follows= Academy Printing Services NAPA Auto Parts BARCO Auto Leasing Corp. The State Insurance Fund CITGO Petroleum Corporation LILCO 671.80 126.33 527.04 55.99 200.00 190.00 268.63 12.00 4,500.00 89.28 1,130.00 48.65 48.47 Chairman Adams reported having received $1200.00 from Mattituck Youth Activities for paving the driveway. New Business: Mr. Arnold Golz of Tosco Corporation entered the meeting. His attendance was in reference to the closed road at Bailey Boachsite. Mr. Gelz wants to re-open the road which has been closed to vehicular traffic, for using the site as a practice area for oil spills and firemen want it open for access to water for emergency reasons. Mr. Adams and the other Commissioners were willing to open the roadway only for repair work and emergency vehicles, but it has to be gated to keep out all other traffic. Mr. Golz was advised by the Comm~ssioners to approach the Tow~ Trustees about re-opening the roadway for emergency reasons only. He should write to Mr. Albert Krupski, Jr., Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Golz said that Tosco would be responsible for any costs in re-opening the roadway. Mr. Golz thanked the Commissioners for their time and affirmative reaction to Tosco's request. Barbara Droscoski, Life Guard Supervisor for the District, entered the meeting. A general discussion of her needs for the 1995 season and the situation regarding the life guards. The 2 beaches, Veterans Memorial and Breakwater, have to be manned with a life guard during beach hours. If they are not, a sign must be posted that life guard is not on duty. The life guard salaries now range from $7.41 to $9.28. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the life guard salaries will range from $10.42 to $12.28. Ms. Droscoski said the equipment needed is as follows= Straps, first aid bags rather than first aid kits, order swabs for jelly fish stings through the Mattituck Fire Department and then reimburse them. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, Barbara Dr°scoski will be paid $2700 for the 1995 season. Chairman Adams reported that the soccer people have installed the building and fence at the Aldrich Lane site. Ms. Peggy Scott from Lilco has informed the District that the light at Breakwater have been fixed. The Town has put one additional light at the Yacht Club. Also the light at the road is working but the one at the parking lot is broken. Russell Nine also attended the meeting regarding Scouters Lodge. Lilco to be contacts about putting up of their lights at the parking lot of Scouters Lodge. one Mattituck Slow Pitch League is not happy with the right field fence. They are willing to spend the money and put the fence up themselves. They are to check with the Town Building Department about a permit. Chairman Adams reported that a pick-up with 14,000 miles has been bought for $4500.00 after $500.00 trade-in. A radio for the new pickup may he purchased at a cost not to exceed $125.00. On motion of Mr. Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the gate people for the 1995 season would be: Denise Goehringer, Deborah Cox, and Mathew Litchhult each of whom would receive a 25 cent an hour raise~ and Rebecca Lessard, a new employee would receive $5.00 per hour. Mr. James Cox, also in attendance, reported that the tractor and backhoe has to go to Malvese for repair. Mr. Cox was advised to get an estimate of the costs of repairs before taking the equipment in. Mr. Gerard Goehringer is to contact Vita Italia regarding cleaning up the Breakwater Beach site. Mr. Cox reported having the beach and ramp permits ready for use. Mrs. Betty Tyler, the employee at the Love Lane Site for checking permits, would start March 15, 1995 and her 1995 salary would be $2,500.00. Mr. John Cushman requested receiving his salary monthly. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, same will be done. Mrs. Haas will be paid once a year. The following will be the employees for the summer and the hours they are to work: Brian Farrish - 20 hours per week. Corey Fliss - 16 yr. old - 20 hours per week. Frank Kowalesky - 20 hours per week. Russell Nine - 20 hours per week from now (March 2, 1995 to end of June - 20 hours per week- more time, if needed after the end of June? Harry Charkow - 20 hours per week for mowing. More time if needed by District. Jim Olsen - 20 hours per week. No further business to come before the meeting, the meeting was adjourned.
