Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held at the
Park District office on April 6, 1995.
Present: Mr. Edward Adams, Mr. Walter Sabat,
Commissioners; Mr. John Cushman, Treasurer, Mrs. Madeline
Haas, Secretary, Mr. James Cox, Custodian.
On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Edward Adams,
and carried, the minutes were approved as presented.
Mr Adams reported that he had met with the Corps of
Engineers; Ray Jacobs, Superintendent of Highways of
Southold Town; Jim McMahon, Ruth Oliva, (Deputy
Superintendent of Southold Town; and Tom Samuels,
representing James Rambo. They gathered at Town Hall and
then went to Breakwater site. It is estimated that the
reconstruction of the breakwater will possibly be one to two
and a half years. The rocks are going to be trucked in.
The west residents have been notified by Mr. Jacobs of what
is going on at the site.
The cost to the District for coverage of the contents
of the building at the Aldrich Lane site will be $40.00.
Mr. Adams reported that he authorized the Soccer League
to purchase the fertilizer, on our account at Agway, to be
put down on the Aldrich Lane site. The league will also put
the weed killer down.
Mr. Cushman reported receiving $500.00 from North Fork
Environmental Council for their share of the new electrical
system at the Park Office.
Mr. Adams reported that the water pump at the Aldrich
Lane site does not have a heavy enough wire. On motion of
Walter Sabat, seconded by Edward Adams, and carried, Mark
Sabat is to be contacted to put in a heavier line.
There are two major problems at the Yacht Club site.
The first one is that Lilco says that the electrical panel
might have to be replaced. The panel is over 20 years old.
Commissioners agreed to have Mark Sabat look at it and get
back to them with his findings. The second thing is the
bulkhead which is sticking out. It is in bad shape. We
cannot replace it and we cannot pull it out because of not
way to get it. This topic was tabled to May meeting.
Commissioners agreed that the little building at the
Yacht Club site is to be painted and roof be shingled.
Mr. Adams reported that the neighbor of the Yacht Club
site does not like the place that the porta potties are
placed. Commissioners feel that it is on our property and
we need something there for facilities.
Mr. Mitch Markowski of the Slo Pitch League entered the
meeting. Mr. Markowski said that the Slo Pitch League is
going to put the double fence up on the right field side.
Mr. Markowski was told to get a proposal on the cost of the
fence from the light panel to the corner of the right field
fence.
Mr. Markowski and the Slo Pitch League were asked to
check with the Town about helping to pay for the fence at
the Yacht Club. Mr. Markowski thanked the Commissioners for
their time and left.
The old score board from the Yacht Club is at the barn.
Mr. Sabat wants it for Little League field at Bay Avenue.
A couple of poles have to be put in at the Aldrich Lane
site.
Born is to get a figure for fence from the baseball
field to the road at the Aldrich Lane site.
Mr. Adams reported that Jerry Goehringer had contacted
John Kowalski and Chuck Berry to put the porch on at the
Breakwater site.
Rates of Pay for 1995 season:
On motion of Ed Adams, seconded by Pete Sabat and carried,
the rates would be as follows:
Debbie Cox $5.00; Mathew Litchhult $5.00; Denise Goehringer
$6.25; Rebecca Lessard $4.50 or minimum wage, whichever is
less. Mr. Farrish (laborer) $5.50 and Mr. Fliss (laborer)
$5.OO.
Commissioners read Mr. Cox's list of work done over the
past month.
Mr. Adams reported that the bathroom in the bath house
at Love Lane needs repairing. Discussion had on whether to
repair the shower or get a new one-piece unit.
Commissioners to check on the situation before making a
decision.
Discussion on seasonal beach permits for non-residents
renting in the District for the summer. All they have to do
is present the lease for the rental to the ticket taker and
they will get a permit.
Mr. Cox wanted to put fence off a 30' x 45' square
which would be used for barbecueing and also put the
dumpster in it. Tabelled for discussion.
Mr. Cox would like to meet with the representative of
Janvey and Center Moriches Papers to order his supplies.
Commissioners agreed to same.
Mr. Adams reported that the blades for mowers (John
Deere and Hustler) have to be ordered. Agreed to by
Commissioners.
Commissioners also agreed to ordering new playground
replacement parts.
Mr. Cox suggested the District purchasing a photo-
copier. Commissioners disagreed. No purchase of same.
Commissioners want the tennis courts at Bay Avenue to
be gotten ready for the season.
Mr. Sabat reported that he and Mr. Paul Wilsberg will
take care of getting the infield of the Little League field
on Bay Avenue ready for the season.
Mr. Sabat reported that he and Joe from the High School
are going to go down to Aldrich Lane to see if a soccer
field can feasibly be put in.
On motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Edward Adams the
following resolution was adopted:
RESOLVED that the following budget modification be
made: Take $3,750.00 from site maintenance/facility repairs
and put $250.00 to site improvement and $3500.00 to
equipment.
On motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Ed Adams and
carried, the Treasurer is to change ATT long distance
carrier to AMNEX.
Mr. Adams reported that Dwight Edstrom is putting a
pole in at Love Lane before the floats can go in.

bills hereinafter listed were approved on motion of Pete
Sabat, seconded by Edward Adams:

No further business to come before the meeting, on
motion of Pete Sabat and seconded by Edward Adams, and
carried, the meeting was adjourned.
