HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-07/11/1996 Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on July 11, 1996, at the Park District Office with all Commissioners, Edward Adams, Chairman, Gerry Goehringer, and Pete Sabat present. Treasurer John Cushman and Secretary Madeline Haas also were present. Prior to the business portion of the meeting Mr. Jim McMahon attended and the Commissioners and Mr. McMahon discussed the Wolf Pit Lake site as to what can be done to clear up the water situation and the road drainage in the area. He stated that DEC looked at the vegetation. The only thing they asked was what is the intent of the District. Their concern was the "burr weed" that just emerged this season. Mr. McMahon to do more research and get back to the Commissioners in the near future. On motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting was approved as presented. On motion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Pete Sabat and carried, the Treasurer's report was accepted as presented and the following bills were ordered paid. Commissioners answer was in the affirmative. Mr. Cushman to give the message to the Supervisor. Letter from Mattituck Fire Department regarding lights and arch at Veterans' Memorial Park. The Board of Commissioners has instructed Chief Lessard to survey the area to see what has to be done. The Commissioners discussed lighting at Veterans' Park site. Chairman Adams reported having received a telephone call from a lady who was riding down Bay Avenue and got hit by a ball from the Little League field. Chairman Adams reported someone having been cut at Veterans' Park site. Peg Litchhult complained that there was no public telephone available in the concession. Chairman Adams told her that the lifeguard on duty has a mobile phone at all times. Treasurer Cushman reported that he had a $5.00 check bounce from a gate permit. He was instructed to write a letter to the people. On motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Gerry Goehringer, and carried the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED that $650.00 be moved from Hourly Personnel to Unemployment Insurance. The following budget notes were made: Budget creates an approximate 5% tax increase; funds for Wolf Pit included in $18,000 for Site Improvements; Salary Increases: $400 for Beach Manager, Ramp Attendant and Treasurer; $300 for Secretary. On motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried the proposed budget set forth on attached sheet was approved for ratification by taxpayers. The Budget vote will be held on August 8th from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the Park District office. Judy Thilberg and Bonnie Adams were appointed as Inspectors of Election.
