HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/21/1997 Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners and annual budget vote of taxpayers of the Mattituck Park District held at the Park District office on August 21, 1997 at '7:00 P.M. Present: Chairman Edward Adams, Commissioners Walter Sabat, Treasurer, John Cushman and Secretary, Madeline Haas. Absent: Commissioner Gerard Goehringer. At 7:00 P.M. Chairman Adams swore in the tellers of election, Judy Thilberg and Bonnie Adams, and declared the polls open. Meeting was called to order by Chairman Adams. On motion of Commissioner Sabat, seconded by Chairman Adams and carried the minutes of the last meeting were accepted as presented. Chairman Adams said a letter .of thanks from the American Diabetes Association for the use of Veterans Park was received. Also a thank you letter from boaters Ken and Peggy for the very clean facilities at the Love Lane Dock site. Chairman Adams also received a letter from the Town Grafitti Committee that a meeting will be held on Thursday, September 4, 1997 at the Town Hall. Chairman Adams reported that August 15, 1997 he met with the Supervisor of Southold Town and Louis Chiarella regarding the Breakwater site dunes. Our only commitment will be to approve a long term lease with them for $1.00 per year to come in with their men and forest ranger to protect and patrol the site. We have to provide them with two spaces to park their cars. The Aldrich Lane irrigation ~ystem has been completed. Jim Cox, Park overseer, was asked to check on prices for matting at the end of the Love Lane ramp. Commissioner Sabat is to call John Costello for suggestions on how to fix the ramp. Jim Cox reported that the Breakwater building roof has to be replaced. Jim Cox is to fill out Suffolk County Water Authority forms for Love Lane, Vet's Park and Park office relative to installation of public water supply. On motion of Edward Adams, seconded by Peter Sabat and carried, Eileen Cox, beach attendant, was discharged as of August 9, 1997. This was done because she was not at her post at the assigned times according to Commissioner Goehringer. Jim Cox to get prices from Malvese, Rolle Bros. and John Deere for a tractor. Present tractor needs to be replace or substantially repaired. Jim Cox was told to start closin9 things up for the winter right after Labor Day. Prices are to be gotten for contract for turning on and turning off and weekly maintenance of the irrigation systems of the District. Briarcliff, S & L and Peter Sterling are to give estimates for Bay Avenue, Yacht Club and Aldrich Lane.
