HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-11/28/1997 Minutes of Special Meeting of the Board. of Conunissioners oft he Mattituck Park District held at the park District office on November 28, 1997 for the election ora Commissioners to fill the term of Walter Sahat whose term expires 12/31/97. All Commissioners, Edward Adams, Gerry Goehfinger and Walter Sabat, Treasurer, John Cushman, and Se~xetary, Madeline Haas were present. James Cox, Crew Leader, entered the meeting later. Chairman Adams declared the polls open at 7:00 P.M. Bonnie Adams and Joann Ship served as Tellers of Election, Joann Ship took Judy Thilberg's place, as she was unavailable. On Jnotion of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the minutes of the November 6, 1997 meeting were approved as read. Commissioners discussed the Love Lane ramp. They had information on Hastings Checker Board. This project was tabled until early spring. Chairman Adams said he had received a call from Ed Dart to see whether we wanted any trees from Southoid Town. Mr. Adams told him none were need at this time. Chairman Adams reported that the drain at the Yacht Club site is in thll working over. The Suffolk Connty Mosquito Control discovered that the pipe going through the bulkhead had collapsed. The Mosquito Control men fixed it. Received $1,000.00 from the Slo Pitch League for the use of the filed for the Snow Flake League. Also received a letter from the SIo Pitch ! ~eague ~ying the cost of rebuilding the diamond on Peconic Bay Boulevard was eslimated at $5,780.00. On mellon of Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the Commissioners agreed to give them $2,890.00. Chairman Adams said be would like to see the time tbr voting changed from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M, to 7:00 P.M. lo 8:15 P.M. Ed Adams, Walter Sabat, Richard Lark, Al~omey for Mattituck-Cutchogue-Laurel School District and Michael Engelhardt met the Aldrich Lane site to see what has to be done about the property which the park District has developed and with the consent (Gentleman's Agreement) of prior Commissioners and School Board members now must be clarified because of the change in the school di~rict. A lease is going to be drawn up and given to the Park District for consideration by the Park District's attorney and Commissioners. Trea~surer Cnshma, is to look into raising the Park District l,iability coverage to $2,500,00.00. Commissioners are going to have All-Island Equipment demonstrate a tractor some time after the new )'ear. A contract has been signed with Architect Sandbach for architectural plans for a new building at Veterans' Memorial Park. The meeting for January will be held on Januat3, 8, 1998 due to the first Thursday is th~ holiday. There were 11 votes cast for Walter Sabat for a term of three years commending January 1, 1998. Walter Sabat due elected.
