Office held on February 5, 1998. with all Commissioners, Edward Adams.
Goehringer. and Walter Sabat present~ together with John Cushman, Treasurer, and
Madeline Haas, Secretary. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Edward Adams
al 7:05 P,M..
The mitmtes were dispensed with as the Secretary did not have them at the meeting
due to a glich in her printer at home.
The following Treasurer's report was accepted and bills ordered paid on motion of
Gerry Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat, and carried:

Mr. McMahon of the Southold Town Recreation Department entered to the
meeting. He was waiting for the Volley Ball l,eague's representalives to arrive.
On motion of Edward Adams, seconded by Walter Sabat and carded, the folloxving
resolution was adopted:

Letter received from Hubert F. Sullivan of Wickham, Wickham & Bressler, P,C.
regarding the Schlaefer law suit. The Travelers Insurance Company wa~q denied there not
having lo pay l~w Ihe damages in Ihe aforemenlioned suit. Mr. Sullivan advised Ihe Board
of Commissioners to send him a letter authorizing the discontinuance of action against the
Travelers in the aforementioned law suit, and to waive reimbursement from Travelers for
the amounts having paid by the Park District to Wickham, Wickham & Bressler in legal
tbes tbr det~nding the lawsuit and waiving co~s and disbursements in the Appellate
Division, The Conmfissioners advised the Secretary to scud the letter to Mr. Sullivau
wlfieh has been done and is on file with the Secreta~'.-y.
Letter received from Drama Pahner requesting lhe minutes that silo had uot received.
She also stated thal she was going lo er~ a fmee on her line in the rear com~ ofh~r
properly because the ri~t of way x~ coming across her pro~fly. ~e

Mr. Ryan and Ms. Roke, the Voll~, Ball represematives, entered the meeting. Mr.
MeMahon suggested to the Board of Conunissioners that file Town attoruey contact the
Park District attorney ,and work out the lease and the layout of the Volley Ball courts at
the Breakwater Site. Town will do file work and casl fl~e sand in at the ~'own expense.
Couunissioners agreed to putti,_g up a fence alo,~g the east side of thc courts.
On motion of Waller Sabat seconded by Ed',x ard. \dams and carded, the northerly
guard mil at the V4{ey Ba{! ~ile would be moved a sufficient number of feet to
accommodate the creclion of the Volley Ball courts.
Mr. Ryan asked about file Park Dislrict pultiug up playing lighls. Mr. Adams said
it could not be done this year because the budget had been already put in place heft, re this
improvement was brought up. He also wanted to know what .type of lighting would be
needed.
The Conmfissioners agreed that parking should not be aproblem but the thne
should be after 4:00 P.M. of ifa Saturday or Sunday afternoon, they would need to get a
permit from Mr. Cox, the Overseer of the sites.
Mr. Cox had come into the meeting and mentioned that the Suffolk County Water
Authority lines run diagonally across the westerly end of the Courts and that the shut off
valve isju~ east of the emit side.
Request from the Mattituck/Cutchogue Little League for up-date of playing fields
at Mattituck. Cotmnissioners could see no problem to do the work requested with the help
of man power from the l ,ittle ! eague people, lfscreening is put up at Bay Avenue field,
the Little League people will have to put il up in the Spring and take in down in the Fall.
Secretary, in,meted to get in touch with Mr. Sambach and let him know we wonld
like him to come to the March 5th, 1998 meeting to discuss any changes the
Commissioners may have on the specifications of the new building at Vetcrans' Memorial
Park.
Oayle Faircloth has been named as Gate Coordinator for the 1998 season at a
salary of $600.00 staring Memorial Day and ending Labor Day. Gerry Goehringer will
make up the schedule for 4 gate guards with one additional one for rotating purposes.
Irrigation: Mr. Cox said a hack-up hoard for the clock at Aldrich ! ane is needt~d.
Sea Spray is to be contacLs about setting up a contract for taking care o£the irrigation and
include the up-daling of the clock.
Malvese - New Holland re: tractor. Prices gotten on the next size larger -
$29,000.00 but t Mr. Chat is not the State contract. It includes the conversion to have
our backhoe fit. ox suggested getting specifications around to be sure eve .rytlfing that is

The valve of Suffolk County Water Authority will not open at Vet's Park.
Parking Permits for 1998 season: Beach - $5.00; Guests- $10.00; Ramp- $15.00.
