HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-04/02/1998Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Mattituck Park District held on April 2, 1998 at the Park District Office, Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with all Commissioners: Edward Adams, Chairman, Gerard Goehringer and Walter Sabat present together with Treasurer, John Cushman, and Secretary, Madeline Haas. Park custodian, James Cox asked to be excused due to a f~remen's wake in East lslip. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the minutes of the March 5, 1998 meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the following Treasurer's report was approved and the following bills were ordered paid: Cash $ 240.08 Cash in Time 6,294.79 Cash in MBIA/CLASS 157,547.19 Total $164,082.06 Bills ordered paid: Times/Review Newspapers Raynor-Suter Hardware Inc. Nine Suffolk County Water Authority The Traveler Watchman 52.78 5.63 63.99 414.25 60.00 150.00 269.95 147.03 200.00 495.37 45.10 39.10 120.00 33.19 70.47 On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Waiter Sabat and carried, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED, that JOHN A.CUSHMAN, Treasurer of the Mattituck Park District is hereby authorized to enter into the aforesaid agreements authorizing The Suffolk County National Bank, as agent for this district, to execute repurchase agreements collaterilized by United State Treasury Obligations held by a third part custodian, all in accordance with the agreements, copies of which are annexed to these minutes. The Town of Southold Highway Department ran into a snag with the volley ball court at the Breakwater site. There is a sand dune with grass to the west of the building. Ed Adams, Jean Cochrane, Supervisor of Southold Town and Mr. Jacobs, Superintendent of Highways of Southold Town met at the site and proposed to go to the northwest and avoid the dune. Gail Wickham, Attorney for the District entered the meeting in regard to the volleyball lease~ She discussed the lease at great length with the Commissioners. At~er the discussion she made the following statements: 1. Mike Ryan, who is in charge of the league, is a resident of Mattituck. If he leaves the league, he must appoint another resident person in charge. 2. Parking: Commissioners said they were going to provide "special use" stickers to the Volleyball players. 3. Town can put in lights - Commissioners must approve location. Lights should not be on after 10:00 P.M. .~. Use of the courts: Courts can be used by residents of the Park District only when volleyball games and activities are not in progress. 5. Park District should make the league aware of the roles and regulations of the District. Gall Wickham then left the meeting. At this time the bids for the Veterans' Memorial Park Concession Stand were opened: The bills were as follows: 1. Margaret Litchhult, 700 Rosewood Drive, Mattituck bid $326.00 for the season and included the official downpayment with the bid. 2. Paraskevi-Voula Kontoveros, 1090 Westphalie Road, Mattituck, NY. Bid $456.00 for the season and included the official downpayment with the bid. Mars. Kontoveros and her daughter were present at the opening and after the bids were opened, Mrs. Kontoveros had several questions which the Board answered. The Board told her she would be contacted to let her know who had been awarded the bid and Mrs. Kontoveros left the meeting. The Board discussed the two bids and agreed to award the concession to Mrs. Kontoveros. Secretary instructed to notify here and Mr. Cushman took the money from both bids to remm Mrs. Litchhult's to her. and deposit Mrs. Kontoveros' as part of her first payment. Mr. Adams reported that Mr. Tandy said the Town Superintended of Highway said there would be no problem for Mr. Tandy to put up a section of stockade fence bordering on the parking lot site on Pike Street, Mattituck. The only stipulations were that the good side face the parking lot and that the section of fence where the trees are must be screwed so it can be removed it the Town needs to get to the strip of land.. The Athletic Director of Mattituck High School has asked for pcm, ission of the use of the Aldrich Lane site for soccer. Secretary to write letter to the Board of Education telling them that all requests for use any of the Park facilities must be in writing. Upon written permission, the Board will notify ,the school of tbeir decision. The School District must also provide a .certificate of insurance naming the Park District as second insured. Secretary instxucted to write a letter to Barbara Droscoski inviting her to the May meeting to go over her needs and the District needs of the life guards and beaches for the summer season. Mr. Bob Linkner asked for permission to use the Veterans' Parking lot to park cars the day of his wedding. Permission to be granted provided the Park District does not already have a function scheduled. On motion of Ed Adams, seconded by Pete Sabat and carried, Amanda Amato is to be hired by the Commissioners as a gate attendant for the 1998 season at a salary of $5.00 per hour. The merry-go-round at Veterans' Park site was in bad condition and Mr. Cox to be told to either have it repaired or diassemble it as soon as possible.]] No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Pete Sabat, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
