HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-05/07/1998Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on May 7, 1998 at the Park District Office, Main Road, Mattituck, N.Y. with all Commissioners - Edward Adams, Walter Sabat and Gerard Goehringer present together with Secretary, Madeline Haas, and Treasurer, John Cushman.. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the April minutes were approved as presented. On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Gerard Goehringer, the Treasurer's report was approved and the following bills ordered paid: Cash Cash in Time Cash in MBIA/CLASS $ 383.42 42.57 158,977.42 Total $159,403.41 Bills ordered paid: Family Farm Life Insurance Co. She was awarded the bid for the concession at Veterans' Park for the 1998 season. She came for information as to what she can sell and general information. The Commissioners told her she can sell food, beverages and snacks but no alcoholic beverages. Chairman Adams reported that fertilizer had been applied to the Aldrich Lane site. One-half the bill to be paid by the Park District and one-half by the Soccer League. The Commissioners reported that elecU'icity was turned on at the Ball Park site at Aldrich Lane because electricity was needed for work to be done. Sea Spray has changed the zones at the ball site. Chahman Adams reported that the floating docks are in at the Love Lane site. A letter from the Southold Town Recreation Director requesting the use of the Veterans' Park beach for swimming lessons from 10:00 A.M. to 1:30 P.M. Monday through Friday for the period from June 29 through July 10, 1998. Mr. McMahon from Southold Town said parking pemdts to be okayed by Park Commission for Volley ball parking. Mr. Catalano, representative of the Slo Pitch League, reported after getting the in-field done at the Yacht Club site, asked if they could move the gates in left field. Commissioners told him it was okay to do it but strictly at the League's expense. On motion of Edward Adams, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the motion made at the April meeting by Mr. Adams and seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, to hire Amanda Amata as a gate guard at a wage of $5.00 an hour was rescinded. A motion made by Edward Adams, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, to hire Amanda Amata as a gate guard for the 1998 season at a wage of $5.15 per hour. This was done because of the raise of minimun wage standards. Mrs. Barbara Droscoski, Beach Manager of the District, entered the meeting. She stated that last year the inspector was not pleased about the fact that no buoys were used at the Sound, just flags. On motion of Edward Adams, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, buoys and flags are to be used at the limits. A general discussion oftbe beach situations regarding life guards, etc. was had. Mrs. Droscoski said she had all the life guards booked in for the season. Mr. Goehringer asked for a meeting of the Commissioners only following this meeting. No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and caitied, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Madeline S Hd Secretary
