Letter from Architect, Warren Sambach, with an estimate of the proposed building to be
built at the Veteran's Memorial Park site of $385,000.00 to $420,000.00.
North Fork Volleyball League thanking the District for the Volleyball courts at the
Breakwater silo.
Gail Faircloth, monitor of the gate girls for the summer, said the girls worked from 9:00
a.m. to 3:00 p.m. She knows the girls were at the Vet's site until 2:30 daily because she
picked up the money at that time.
Syringes and needles were found on Vet's and Breakwater beaches. Tile Board of Health
and the Town police were notified.
John Harrison entered the meeting regarding the Aldrich Lane site. He said the grass is
badly beaten and that it needs a seeding program which should he done continuously in
the Spring and Fall as well as insecticides and herbicides. The Commissioners discussed
the matter with Mr. Harrison who is willing to use his license for the application of the
insecticides and herbicides. Mr. Harrison is to get a ball park figure of costs for needs at
the site to thc Commissioners. The Commissioners are willing to go half on the bills.
Mrs. Suglia and Mr. and Mrs. Aquezi came into the meeting to complain about the
parking at the Breakwater site. They complained that when they would get to the beach
to either fish or swim the parking lot was full of cars and most of them did not have
stickers. They also wanted to know what the proposed budget for 1999 would do to the
coming tax bill. The Commissioners discussed the parking situation and advised them
that they were going to try to enlarge the area. Mr. Cushman is to let them know about
the taxes as he did not have the figures with him.
Chairman Adams reported that Mr. Thornton Smith has an office in Camp Mineola. He
has complained that the lights at the Yacht Club site are polluting the water.
Anne Bialeski entered the meeting. She asked questions on how many employees are
included in the "salary" item of the proposed budget. Commissioners discussed this with
Mrs. Bialeski.
No further business to come before thc meeting, on motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by
Edward Adams, and carried, the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully submitted,
Madeline S. Haas
