HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/05/1999 Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on August 5, 1999, at the Park District Office on Main Road, Mattituck, New York, with Commissioner and Chairman Edward Adams, Commissioner Walter Sahat, Treasurer John Cushman, Secretary Madeline H~s, and Park District Maintenance Director, James Cox all present. Absent, Commissioner G-emrd Ooehringer. At 7:00 P.M. Chairman Adams, swore in the Inspectors of Election, Judy Thilberg and Gall Faircloth, and declm-ed the polls open for the vote of resident taxpayers on the proposed budget for the Park District for the year 2000. On motion of Chairman Adams, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the June and July minutes were approved as presented with one correction of changing Bonnie Adams as an Inspector to C, ail Faircloth. On motion of Chaimum Adams, seconded by Walter Sahat and carried. They raised in excess of $45,000.00. Chairman Adams reported an article having been printed in both the Long Island Traveler Watchman and Suffolk Time and followed by a copy of same by letter to the Park Distsriet.. This letter was written by Thomas and Evelyn Cangero registering several complaints such as playground a top priority and then followed up by 6 suggestions: 1. Repave the parking lot; 2. Cntrbage cans; 3. Bathrooms open for use; 4. Sweep the parking lot; 5. Pier for fishing ONLY; 6. Security guards to patrol the are~ The Commissioners discussed this and told Mr. Cox to up-date the playground. They also asked Mr. Cox if the bathrooms were open each day and he said they were. Also four garbage cans had been put out and the parking lot has been swept. Chairman Adams said he had talked to Ceo. il Wickham, Attorney for the District, regarding the Sidor property and nothing new to report. Chairman Adams said Peter Kren had been requested to appraise the parcel on Route 48 that Dr. Mercier is interested in purchasing. On motion of Chairman Adams, seconded by Walter Sahat, and can4ed, a service agreement on the computer for one year at the cost of $195.00 is to be gotten through McCabe's.. On motion of Walter Sahat, seconded by Chairman Adams and carried, James Cox, Jr., Laborer, is to be given a raise to $7.50 per hour immediately. On motion of Walter 8ahat~ seconded by Chairman Adams and carried, playground equipment for the Breakwater site is to be ordered immediately. Chairman Adams reported meeting with Mr. and Mrs. Goggius and Mr. Cox at the Aldrich Lane site regarding the play house and trees which the Goggins had placed on Park property. Oail Wickham was to take a look at the situation the next time she was at the site with a soccer game. Mr. Sabat asked Mr. Cox to have Ray Nine go in at Veterans' Park and level the pile of dirt. No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Chairman Adams, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Madeline S. The result was: 10 Voters registered to Vote 10 Ballots Cast 10 Ballots - Yes 0 Ballots - No 0 Ballots Void Chairman Adams declared the proposed budget for the year 2000 was approvecL
