a. This application MUST be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted to the Building Inspector with 4
sets of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to schedule.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets or
areas, and waterways.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such a permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose what so ever until the Building Inspector
issues a Certificate of Occupancy.
f. Every building permit shall expire if the work authorized has not commenced within 12 months after the date of
issuance or has not been completed within 18 months from such date. If no zoning amendments or other regulations affecting the
property have been enacted in the interim, the Building Inspector may authorize, in wfiting, the extension of the permit for an
addition six months. Thereafter, a new permit shall be required.

Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and other applicable Laws, Ordinances or

The building permit on our house at 10900 North Bayview Rd in Southold was extended by phone last winter.
We never received any paperwork concerning the extension and thought that it was for the period of one more
year. When we called your office today we were surprised that we were told that it had recently expired. We
had to stop work for awhile due to an injury Allan sustanded during his work on the house -injuring the nerve
in his neck with made his arm numb. He went to Dr Brian Arm in Greenport for extended physical therapy and
could not work for a number of months last summer. Ellen fell offa ladder while working in the house in
December and badly injured her knee. She was seen that day by Dr Zambetti an orthopedist in NYC. She had to
keep off the leg for quite a while and could not go on ladders for 2 months. All of this put us way behind
schedule as we are working alone to finish the interior details such as railings, stairs, interior doors and exterior
shutters. Additionally Allan job teaching at Parson's School of Design kept in the NYc for 4 days a week and
reduced the amount of time available for us to work ou
We are now about ready in the next few weeks to arrange for the final inspection with Gary Fish, who has been
our inspector.
Questions:
#1 We are about to purchase 1/2 inch plywood panels, each labeled for its window, and 3 inch screws for the
panels.
They will be stored on the premise for window protection in case of hurricane, ls this what is needed?
#2 1 have attached a sketch of the permanent fixed wood planters that will extend the angled edge ( which is the
roof) of the second floor patio to 36 inches from the deck boards. Is thsi OK

Is the next step to step up the appointment with Mr Fish when we are ready for the inspection?
