Karen McLaughlin: Southold Town Senior Services Karen has hired a PT aide for Fishers Island. Discussed Report the upcoming LIGEC program: Seniors At Risk 10/7 at Martha Clara. A program on hoarding via NYSCA is being web cast at FSL in Bayshore on 10/6, RSVP is required and attendance is limited to 2 staff per agency. Budget has been submitted , they will be possibly piloting the use of flex fuel and/or compressed gas/clean energy for transportation. They have also received a $26,000 grant for Senior Center improvements. The plan is to extend meals program to the Peconic Center as well as purchase furniture for intergenerational programming at the Peconic School. Jean DeLorme : Katinka House census is variable. Touro Law will be presenting at the November caregivers meeting. Jackie Martinez : 10/19 EPIC presentation, 10/21 Twilight Dinner, 10/22 Halloween Party, 10/26 flu shots at the Peconic Center. Lynne Richards : Annual Halloween Costume party will be held at The Soundview. November, trip to NYC. Mental Health Integration Grant Wellness series on 9/3 focused on the older driver. A LIGEC program will be Senior Options and Solutions held in January on this topic, flyer forthcoming. 10/1 Wellness Series on Coping with Grief and Loss. Discussed upcoming program expansion to include a transitional care program at ELIH and collaboration with South Oaks Hospital and PCP’s to provide telepsych consultations. Jay Slotkin, MD: Agency Reports LIGEC has not been re-funded; a few more programs are in the pipeline. Recent DOH survey of San Simeon went well. Updated the group on the East End Alliance/ PHO. Robyn Berger-Gaston: 11/19 NASW will be having a conference on innovative housing at the Arbors in Hauppauge. She also discussed Project Health Care Issues and Services for Seniors Committee Meeting Minutes Warmth benefits available through their agency. Tracy Zeweski : Home Instead provides non-medical home assistance. Nancy Gray : Eastern Sun Holistic Health offers at 10% senior discount. Louise Blackburn : ADHC is moving along, expanding programming to include yoga and educational programs. She will provide free home assessment for prospective clients. Carmen Savinetti/Louise Cardellina : Island Urgent Medical Care has a new office in Mattituck. They now have offices in Southold, Shelter Island, Mattituck and Wading River covering the East End. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10/27 for the Southold office. They also have Island House Doctor covering the North Fork. Louise discussed the full array of services that are provided to homebound individuals including lab and imaging services. Pegi Orsino : Discussed the Chronic Disease Self Management program. RSVP is the lead agency for Suffolk County (SCOFA). The program consists of 6 weeks of workshops. Master leaders and peer leaders will be trained so the program can be offered in the community on an ongoing basis. Holly Rhodes-Teague : Discussed upcoming Medicare programs. They will be at the Mattituck Center on 10/4 at 11:00am. Open enrollment for Medicare Part D is 11/15-12/31. They hope to have State budget cuts restored, however, there is a 1.1% cut to vouchers, and a potential 25% reduction to NY Connects. They are currently filling caseworker positions. Flu shots for seniors are widely available in Suffolk County this season. Our next scheduled meeting is 10/27/10.
