Monthly Report
Date: August 2010
· On going trail maintenance on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm,
Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road
Preserves.
· Attended a Fleet Management meeting.
· Coordinating the demolition of Southold Scavenger Waste Plant with
LK McLean Associates (Authorization to bid, bid package &
contractor's site visit).
· Installed a new fence, with gates, at the Police Department Impound
Yard, doubling the size of the existing area.
· Repaired the split fence at Downs Farm Preserve that was damaged
by a vehicle.
· Attended the annual Fishers Island Town Board Meeting.
· Made repairs to the New Suffolk Boat Ramp - Floating Dock.
· Meeting with Construction Consultants, in reference to the
renovations of the Peconic Community Center.
· Set up picnic tables and mulched around shrubs for "Dragon Fly
Day" at Skipper Horton Park, sponsored by North Fork
Audubon ..... a great turn out, with kids and parents having a good
time.
· Attended the contractors site visit at the Scavenger Waste Plant, with
potential bidders for the demolition of the facility.
· Preparing Subrecipient Agreements, with Not-for-Profit agencies, as
part of the 2010 Community Development Block Grant Program,
with Philip Beltz.
· Worked with Jeff Standish on the preparation of the 2011 DPW
Budget.
· Attended a meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers on potential
dredge spoil sites, in the Town of Southold.
· The base course for the basketball court at Cochran Park has been
installed and the court should be ready for play by the middle of
September.
Installation of carpet/tile at the Southold Town Highway Department
has been completed and several of offices were painted.
The back of the Southold Highway Building was power washed and
painted.
· Installed a new HVAC system in the vault at Town Hall.
· Repairs to the gazebo in Silversmith Corners, Southold were
completed by Boger Construction, Southold. This project was
funded by a gift from Charles Reichert, owner of the Southold IGA.
· The construction of the Pine Neck Boat Ramp has been completed,
with all of the work done in-house, saving several thousand dollars.
· Assisted in the set up of the Southold Anti-Bias Picnic at the
Strawberry Fields Fairground.
