Present:

Review of Minutes: Minutes approved for July, 14 2010.
Update of Vetting Housing Registry: Several applicants are responding to the letter
forwarded to approximately 300 households who submitted applications for housing
assistance through the Housing Registry. An advertisement also appeared in the Suffolk
Times requesting interested parties to submit applications.
Intent for Resale of Cottages: A resident of the Cottages at Mattituck forwarded a letter
regarding intent to sell her house. Phillip and Town Attorney met with her in advance to
discuss the necessary steps and processes.
HAC Vacancy: Don Wilson has resigned due to his inability to attend meetings.
Comments re Economic Chapter for Comprehensive Plan: The comments made by
the HAC at the July meeting were shared with the team and consultant and many were
incorporated within the revised draft.
Comprehensive Plan-Housing Chapter:

Development of additional methodology – a list of previous studies commissioned
by the Town with all comments and goals relating to affordable housing chapter
were distributed and reviewed. In addition a new section of the chapter will address
“review of existing tools” – legislation and policies created since most of the studies
were published that includes work of hamlet stakeholders.

Additional objectives/recommendations were articulated as follows:
Promote mixed income housing through (Rona)
o
Host educational forums for the public from CDC LI/LI Partnership and others
o
to prepare residents to become “housing ready”. Would also include Suffolk
County resources such as first time homebuyer programs, down payment
assistance, etc.
Utilize CDBG funding for grants to build accessory apartments with
o
affordability restrictions
Ensure capital improvements of infrastructure for HALO zones
o
Community outreach and education regarding employer assistance housing
o
programs that provide funding match to employees
Work with Town’s Transportation Committee to enhance public transportation
o
options for residents to live in hamlet centers and HALO zones without
dependency of automobiles
