It should be noted in competing against some building suppliers, that many do not produce or fabricate their own buildings, but are brokers which advertise and market to the end owner, and then contract out the manufacturing. What is important to consider is many of these suppliers do not meet AISC Certification standards as metal building suppliers, nor are members of the MBMA, Metal Building Manufacturers Association, which help certify and assure the buildings are adequately designed, detailed and fabricated to meet building code requirements. With current code requirements being more stringent in the inspection of welded frames and members on building projects, having quality control and certified welders in place becomes more critical in satisfying these requirements. Nucor can be competitive in supplying the building for the above referenced project, selling it direct from the manufacturer to Danallison Enterprises. Nucor is consistently one of the lowest cost producers priding ourselves with the highest quality most competitive buildings, and should not be undersold. Our conversion factors, manhours/ton, and associated advantages of being a steel company give us distinct advantage in the market. However, some consideration must be made to competing against buildings which are designed lighter than industry standards.
