Dump body underside shall be coated in Megaflex rust preventative and abrasion resistant coating. This unit shall be built to the manufacturer's standard. It shall be equipped with the manufacturer's equipment and accessories that are included in the advertised and published literature for the unit. Understructure Longimdinals shall be ¼" formed channel members with 12 ½" overall section height, spaced 34" apart (outside dimension). Outside Cross Supports shall be 4" I- beam on 12" centers. Inside Cross Supports shall be 7 gauge formed J channels steel stacked double on 12" centers between longimdinals. Floors shall be ¼" Hi Tensile steel. Comers shall have 45 degree coves, integral to floor sheet, welded to side sheet at top edge only. Floor sheet shall be flange formed along conveyor sides for additional strength. Latch mechanism shall be over center lever release type with heavy duty flame cut latch. Spreader chains shall be 5/16" proof coil. d.) Material Feed Gate Shall be horizontally revolving type. In the interest of eliminating feed gate jamming, track operated feed gates are unacceptable. Shall have an opening of not less than 9 ½"x 32". Shall be fabricated of 7 gauge steel and extend fully across conveyor. Shall be adequately reinforced horizontally by means of 2" x 2" x 3/8" angle to withstand the rigors of snow control and material delivery operations. In the fully opened position the feed gate shall be flush to the inside of the tailgate. In the winter mode, feed gate shall extend into the body, preventing granular material from escaping the body in the partially open position. Shall be designed so as to allow the complete range of movement in a single continuous arch. COMPLIANCE YES NO EXCEPTION 6 Units which require the use ora "tailgate doghouse" in addition to (or in conjunction with) a material feed · gate are not acceptable. Feed rate shall be adjusted by means of positive positioning pin for accurately controlled spreading. Adjustment pins must not require lubrication, be non threaded and captured to prevent freeze-up and loss. In the full opened position the feed gate shall be flush to the inside of the tailgate. Feed gate movement shall be controlled by an adjustment ann. Adjustment arm shall collapse and stow to a recessed position. e.) Conveyor Shall be belt over chain type. Belt shall be asphalt rated. Shall be not less than 34" wide. Shall be 2" diameter drive and idler shaft. Shall have 8 tooth sprockets. Shall have 2" diameter bore relubrictable flange mounted ball beating units (4). Self cleaning pintle style chain shall have not less than an average ultimate strength of 24,500 lbs per strand (Roller chain not acceptable). COMPLIANCE YES NO EXCEPTION 7 Conveyor flight bars shall be 3/8" x 1 %" flat bars welded every other link. Conveyor slack adjusters shall be located at the rear of the body so as to be accessible when the body is raised. In the interest of safety no exceptions to this requirement shall be accepted. Shall have 1" diameter threaded slack adjustors with a minimum of 4" travel. Conveyor floor and roll over nose piece shall be 7 gauge. Shall be driven by means of torque ann mounted low speed/high torque hydraulic motor directly coupled to the conveyor shaf~ (Gear box driven not acceptable). Conveyor cover shall be fabricated of ¼' steel. Shall be crimped along both sides for strength and rigidity. Shall secure by means of not less than two bolts at the rear of the body and four bolts along the headsheet. There shall be asphalt rated multi ply belt wipes located on both the body headsheet and rear most crossmember to eliminate material transfer to body underside. fi) Telescopic Cylinder a) Shall be NTEA Class 100 rated. Shall be warranted a minimum of two years. COMPLIANCE YES NO / / / / / EXCEPTION 8 Shall be double acting cylinder. All tubing used in the manufacture of this cylinder shall be honed D.O.M. tubing and must have the corresponding mill spec sheets from the run under which it was produced. After machining, the tubes and glands shall be submerged in a liquid salt bath nitrating process, polished, and submerged a second time to enhance the mechanical properties of the tubing. The nitride tubes shall have ten times the corrosion resistance of hard chrome plating, twice the fatigue strength of untreated carbon. For simplicity and longevity there shall be no brass, or phenolic wear parts in the cylinder. The cylinder shall be comprised only of nitride steel and seal kit. The seals shall be U-cup type, positioned in the gland nut as a rod seal to wipe against the OD of the tube passing through it. As the cylinder retracts, foreign materials will be removed by means of a wiper, also located in the gland nut, and the tube will be surrounded by oil below the seal. An outer cover shall enclose the cylinder while not in use.
