This application must be filled in by typewriter or ink and submitted to the Building Department with the following:
A. For new building or new use: 1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, slxeets, and unnsual natmal or
topographic features.
2. Final Approval from Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage-disposal (8-9 form).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Sworn statement from plumber certifying that the solder used in system contains less than 2/10 of 1% lead.
5. Commercial building, industrial building, multiple residences'and Similar buildings and installations, a certificate
of Code Compliance from architect or engineer responsible for the building.
6. Submit Planning Board Approval of completed site plan requirements.

Dear Mayor Pell:
As Director of Habitat for Humanity O~cSUff°lk, I am writing
the village to request special economl consideration for the
fee associated with hookup of city water.
As a non for profit housing organization we are building two
homes on Flint Street in Greenport. These homes are not in
the village proper, but are within the Greenport water
distric. Two Greenport residents have been chosen as our
Homesteader Partners. They are Mr. & Mrs Jonathan Shelby and
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Horton.
It is our hope that the village of Greenport could find a way
to help these families lessen their mortgage by reducing the
. $4700.00 fee for water hookup. With the help of Church,
business, labor, and government we have these two homes well
underway in construction. We build for absolutely no pro~i=
· and charge low-income working families no interest on their
mortgage. If the Village could be of help we can insure that
our families will have a much more affordable monthly
payment. At the same time two new homes will be added to the
tax rolls benefiting the entire community.

Dear Mr. Metcalf:
This will acknowledge your correspondence of July 28, (copy
enclosed) requesting waiver of the Village of Greenport's upfront
fees for the connection of public water to the two recently built
residences on Flint Street. We are somewhat surprised that this
request is made at this time as it is the normal procedure for the
Town of $outhold to require Suffolk County Health Department approval
before issuing a Building Permit. This would have resulted in your
inquiry prior to the building of residence and discovery of the fact
that the Village of Sreenport's public water mains do not extend to
the lots at issue.
Nith respect to your request for a waiver of upfront fees, the
Board has determined to deny the request. We would be happy to
discuss the reasoning behind the denial at your convenience. In any
event, the Board has determined that in the interest of the area
serviced the Village will extend the main so water will be available
to the sites. This cost will be absorbed by the water Department.
