activities on community service projects and will develop future social and
recreational activities.
??
Internships and Employment-Tom stated that Greenport will host the Business
th
Advisory Council meeting on January 14 to plan job shadow day for April.
??
Fundraising-Jeff discussed “Breathing East” concert scheduled for Friday, February
th
12 at 7 p.m. at Southold High School. Jessica suggested that Southold SADD
sponsor the event and proceeds will benefit Youth Bureau—suggested donation $5
for ticket admission and sponsorship/program recognition $25. YB requested to seek
three sponsorships and actively support the event to make it successful. If anyone
can find sales agent to sell tickets please advise Phillip and Jeff to recognize in
program—Phillip will write sponsorship letter and Jeff will print tickets. In addition to
raising money for youth activities, this is an excellent vehicle to promote the
work of the Youth Bureau and Youth Advisory Council. Phillip will meet with
members of the band and write press release—posters will be developed—Barbara
will write a column and will ask other columnists to do the same. Jessica may have
names of local bands to perform in advance of the concert— suggestions welcome.
Updates:

difference” forwarded to superintendents for comment.

Board unanimously agreed to not pursue Student Lifeline service.
Youth Bureau 2009 Report:
Elaine stated workshops for parents are not well attended and
we should focus efforts on youth activities. Irene offered that partnering with PTA and other
organizations can foster achieving goals to reach parents—Irene, Andrea and YAC had very
productive meeting with PTSA—great networking opportunity. Several remarked workshops
for adults had excellent content, despite poor attendance.
Other:
Irene reported that Mattituck HS has mandated community service learning and it
would be beneficial to amplify the “volunteer” section of the YB Resource Directory in 2010.
Next Meeting Date:
Monday, February 8th at 5:30 p.m. at HRC.
Respectfully Submitted, Phillip Beltz
