Michael Simon reported on the meeting he and Carolyn Peabody had with Mr.
McKenna, Superintendent of Cutchogue/Mattituck School District.
on the complaint of Walter Dunston re bias treatment. There has
been a series of different kinds of bias and a long list of complaints
· treatment from the lower level of the work force in the school, re
· assignments
· patterns of discrimination
Michael and Carolyn suggested the need for better supervision,
that is responsive and concerned. Evidently School Board members
are aware and are concerned.
New member, Edena Eichanowicz, introduced herself. She has had experience
working in Civil Service, and was a very helpful contributor in the
meeting.
Cindy Smith
offered information about the Southampton Picnic, which we are
Supportive of. The Southold Board has approved $250 for purchase
of commodities, and help with a n Anti-Bias Task Force banner.
We are hoping for help in providing transportation so that we can
have a good attendance.
Michael Simon has submitted his resignation. We all offered our thanks for all that
he has contributed to ABTF, and said we will still call on his
expertise.
There was concern about the Southold Town Police involvement in the treatment
of immigrants by the I.C.E. and a need for review of policy.
It was noted that Eleanor Lingo has the documentary videos to be given to the
schools.
