RE:
Asbestos Survey
Site: Peconic Community Center
Peconic Lane, Peconic
Resolution 2010-247
Dear Elizabeth;
Attached you will find the laboratory analysis for suspect asbestos
containing materials (ACM) in the Peconic Community Center as part of the
asbestos survey perl=ormed within the building.
Samples of any materials that are typically produced with asbestos
containing materials are gathered and tested. It is our understanding that at least
a limited asbestos survey had been previously taken by others and material
within the boiler was positive for asbestos content. It was not necessary to repeat
those tests in this survey.
It appears that at some point during the history of the building, the pipe
wrap within the basement had been upgraded to newer foam based non-
asbestos insulation. Although visually it appears clear of ACM, we gathered one
sample to ensure that was the case. That sample was negative for asbestos
content.
During inspection of the building two areas were identified as potentially
asbestos containing. Those areas constituted the plaster walls and the tiled
ceilings. Representative samples were gathered of each of these materials.
These materials were homogeneous throughout the entire building and will
represent all walls and ceilings.
The analysis indicates that there was no ACM detected in the material
sampled. Any asbestos content greater than 1% of total weight is considered
positive for asbestos content.
