EETC Update
The June 9, 2010 meeting was attended by Margaret Brown who reports that the Suffolk
County Transit discussed fare increases and also that they are working on connections to
the Long Island Railroad service. The LIRR also reported that new schedules for their
changed service are posted on their website. Further discussion with the LIRR was tabled
to the July, 2010 meeting.
New Comprehensive Plan for Town
Christie W. reports that the contractor at Nelson-Pope has been on vacation for the past
two weeks and there has been no movement with the plan.
Planning Board Requests
Christie W. presented a new site plan for Tidy Car, Rt. 48 in Southold which was
presented to the Planning Department by its owner. There was a question over the
dedicated turning lane as marked on the plans and the lack of documentation to support
this claim. The plan was discussed by Commission members, and as far as transportation
issues were involved, members found no problem with the current turning lane
configuration for the plan.
Neb B. advised the Commission that the Harbes Family Farm has submitted a plan for a
new farm office on the south side of Sound Avenue in an existing building. In a letter
from Jamie Richter to the applicants, a drainage and stormwater runoff plan was
requested for the site. Christie W. advised Commission members that the Harbes’ have
just submitted new site plans for their proposed winery and these site plans are being
addressed separately from the farm office site plans.
Neb B. advised members that the issue of a right-of-way off of Praity Lane in Cutchogue
has again arisen. Supt. Harris advised members of what transpired at the sight and how
the right-of-way was surfaced and attached to a town road without permits.
Supervisor’s Requests
Neb read a letter from a resident of Little Neck Road in Cutchogue requesting a stop sign
be erected by their house to slow traffic on Little Neck Rd. After a brief discussion,
members did not feel a stop sign would be warranted at this location.
