Box 1412 Southold, NY 11971 RE: JOHN & JOAN DOHERTY 1300 GRATHWOHL ROAD, NEW SUFFOLK SCTM# 117-4-7 Dear Mr. Strang: The Southold Town Board of Trustees reviewed the site plan prepared by Garret A. Strang, Architect, received on June 3, 2010, and determined that the construction of a proposed two (2) foot addition on the southwest comer of the existing residence built over part of an existing deck is out of the Wetland jurisdiction under Chapter 275 of the Town Wetland Code and Chapter 111 of the Town Code. Therefore, in accordance with the current Wetlands Code (Chapter 275) and the Coastal Erosion Hazard Area (Chapter 111 ) no permit is required. Please be advised, however, that no construction, sedimentation, or disturbance of any kind may take place seaward of the tidal and/or freshwater wetlands jurisdictional boundary or seaward of the coastal erosion hazard area as indicated above, or within 100' landward from the top of the bluff, without further authorization from the Southold Town Board of Trustees pursuant to Chapter 275 and/or Chapter 111 of the Town Code. It is your responsibility to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken to prevent any sedimentation or other alteration or disturbance to the ground surface or vegetation within Tidal Wetlands jurisdiction and Coastal Erosion Hazard Area, which may result from your project. Such precautions may include maintaining adequate work area between the tidal wetland jurisdictional boundary and the coastal erosion hazard area and your project or erecting a temporary fence, barrier, or hay bale berm. I am respectfully requesting a letter of no jurisdiction based on the fact that the proposed work is in excess off 100 feet from the wetlands located on the West side of Grathwohl Road. I have also enclosed the following for your files: Check in the amount of $ 50.00 in payment of Fee Letter of Authorization from Owner to act as his agent I am hopeful you will find the enclosed acceptable and will grant the requested determination of no jurisdiction.
