I. Call to Order
II. Approval of Minutes -No minutes for December 15, 2009 Meeting
III. Chairman's Comments
A. Southold and Cutchogue-New Suffolk historical societies mark 50~
anniversaries in 2010. Recommend supervisor and Town Board recognize each
organization with an appropriate resolution and presentation drafted by Town
Historian.
B. Review Historic Rehab Tax Credit Workshop in Riverhead, Feb. 10 (See
attached flyer.)
C. Discuss successor to Damon as edmin, asst. to LPC. Outline his
responsibilities that will need to be continued by a successor. Discuss
possible replacements as suggested by Supervisor Scott Russell.
IV. Old Business
A. Review goals and objectives and accomplishments for 2009 and discuss new
goals for 2010; Set a date of a future Town Board meeting to brief the Board
on LPC.
B. Continue discussion of CLG application process; - Jamie
C. Approved revisions on impact of Altemative Energy applications to
Landmarks Handbook at last meeting; next step - (Damon)
D. Update on inventory and restoration plan for Ben Franklin mile markers-Ron
and Barbara
E. Committee Reports:
· Technical - Ron and Mel
· Education and Outreach - Barbara
· PR/Communications - Discuss placing an Infomercial in ST and holding a
Community Info Forum about CLG; Explore entedng a float in the July 4
parade in Southold; Produce a folding 3-panel table top display for use at
meetings, special events, etc. Need a project chair for each project -Jim
· Preservation Practices - Jamie
· New Designations and Awards - Mel
· Hedtage Tourism Initiative- Progress on walking/driving tours -Southold
Historical Society to do on a contractual basis; consider sponsors for
brochures - Ron and Jim
· Code Review and Updates - Ron
V. New Business
A. Consider coordinating with historical societies on nominating five new eligible
landmarks in each hamlet from SPLIA list for addition to Town Landmarks
Register in 2010. LPC would invite owners to apply.
B. 4:00 p.m. - Review revisions with Claudia Ramone (owner) and Mark
Schwartz (architect) on their project on Village Lane, Orient.
C. Any other business to be discussed

Location: Executive Conference Room, Town Hall Annex, Southold, NY
Attendees: Jim Grathwohl, Jamie Garretson, Larry Jungblut, Ron Rossi, Barbara SchnitzJer, and Mel
Phaff. Doug Constant was absent.
Ms. Leslie Tasca, a part-time employee in the Town Assessors' office was interviewed as a replacement for
Demon Rallis. She discussed her background and reasons why she would like to be considered for the
position. The commissioners thanked her for her interest and would advise her of any developments.
A bdef discussion of the Ramone application took place prior to an informal discussion with the applicants and
their architect.
The Ramones and Mark Schwarlz (the architect) presented the commission with their latest drawings for their
application. As a result, it was decided to conduct a public hearing in February.
A brief discussion among the commissioners took place regarding the conduct of informal discussions with
potential applicants and the conduct of Public Hearings.
Next Meeting - February 23, 2010
Note: After the meeting the Public Hearing was scheduled for March 16, 2010 as the Ramones will not be
available for the February time slot...
