Re: Loose Dog at School
Dear Mr. Feger:
Please be advised that a dog owned by Mrs. Shannon Simon, residing at
17130 Main Street, New Suffolk, New York, was loose on the school
grounds last Wednesday, March 17, 2010, and bit my son on his hand.
Luckily, it was a small puncture wound and he should not have any
permanent physical injury. Although this is certainly out of the school's
control, I am writing to suggest a reminder of the school's policy (and the
Town Code) to the parents and relatives of students that all animals must be
on a leash at all times or under the owner's adequate control.
Furthermore, it might be prudent to advise Mrs. Simon that her dog should
not be on the school property at any time due to the fact that it is quite the
"attractive nuisance" to the children to run and play with her dog and it has
now bitten at least one person. I should note that Mrs. Simon's dog is not a
puppy which would suggest that the dog has vicious propensities. I
appreciate your attention to this matter and if you have any questions or
