STHRC, Juliet Frodella, South Oaks, ELIH, Nancy Gray, Private Practitioner, Jay Slotkin, MD, Daphne Shuttleworth, Comfort Keepers, Bruce Petrucci, RSVP, Stephanie Pacchiano, United Lifeline, Tracy Zaweski, Home Instead, Carol Ryan, Wells Fargo, Virginia Walsh, LIPA REAP, Robyn Berger-Gaston, Family Service League TOPIC DISCUSSION ACTION Review of Previous Minutes Minutes from 1/27 meeting were reviewed and accepted. Jacqueline Martinez: Southold Town Senior Ti Chi has been well received by seniors. Slight Services Report reduction in congregate meals due to time of the year/weather. Phyllis Markopoulos : Working collaboratively with Senior Options and Solutions to identify potential mental health issues and refer for assessment. Lynne Richards : Increase in participation in social program. Bowling tournament 4/11. Jean DeLorme : Increase in participants Mental Health Integration Next Wellness series 3/5: Our Ever Changing Moods: Seasonal Grant Affective Disorder. Updated the group on the status of the telepsych Senior Options and Solutions program. Jay Slotkin, MD: Agency Reports San Simeon had their inspection for the medical model program, hopes to open April 2010. Reported that Juliet will now be arranging some of the LIGEC programs. He is still working on his transition to a medical home. The Camden Group has been hired by the Alliance do develop a physician practice. Nancy Gray : Tai Chi/ Qi Gong classes being offered at Eastern Sun. Daphne Shuttleworth : Continue to offer free insurance counseling seminars. Bruce Petrucci : Discussed strategies for getting individuals on RSVP telephone reassurance. Also discussed the potential for friendly visiting if a pool of volunteers can be secured for the area. Carol Ryan : Changes have been made to reverse mortgages effecting Health Care Issues and Services for Seniors Committee Meeting Minutes monies considered as income. Tracy Zeweski : Business is growing. Caregivers are available and can drive and are bonded through the agency. Stephanie Pacchiano : New adaptive devices available. 3/19 Financing Long Islands Transportation Future featuring Richard Ravitch at the Uniondale Marriott. March 4 AARP videoconference at Family Service League: Walkable Safe Communities. Virginia Walsh : Discussed the LIPA Reap program: assess energy efficiency of homes, can replace light bulbs, and supply energy efficient refrigerators. Also provides a $200.00 credit to seniors, currently backed up but will continue to process these rebates. Robin Berger-Gaston : Provided information on services available though Family Service League: Project Warmth, Kincare, Homework Help, and caregivers support groups. Also discussed current project to compile information on assistance available through local parishes. This info will be available to group once it is complete. Service Barriers Roundtable Discussion 1. : Yearly assessment of service barriers These issues will be explored in the discussed. The group identified the following major barriers: coming year. Transportation and geographic challenges of living on the East ?? End. Lack of Psychiatrist located on the North Fork in private practice ?? Affording Long Term Care ??
