Mt. Richter,
I have reviewed the change order submitted by Construction Consultants and do not have any issues with the
modifications required to coordinate all disciplines involved in this project.
It is apparent that most, if not all, of these changes were the result of anticipated, in the field, coordination due to the
complexity of the engineering systems associated with this type of building.
I do have a couple of comments regarding the fees associated with the hair trap extension collar:
When the invert for the hair trap drainage line was verified, and the depth of the unit was lower than expected, 1
contacted the Rockford Company to discuss options. The representative I spoke with informed me that a simple
extension collar would make up the difference but stressed that we should have this collar factory installed prior to
delivery to the site (I emphasized this in subsequent correspondence with CCLI). It was my understanding at the
time that the unit had not yet been ordered and that the extension collar would be requested as directed from the
manufacturer.
The costs associated with retrofitting the extension collar after delivery would be much greater than requesting this
feature, up front, as part of the initial pumhase order. Mr. Learned and I happened to be on site when the hair trap
was delivered on January 14t~, 2008 and no extension collar was observed on the unit.
My only question regarding the fees requested for the extension collar ($8,559.73) is whether a significant
percentage was the result of a retrofit on site or, if the extension collar was factory installed, were there charges
associated with the delivery and return of the hair trap (with no extension) observed on January 14t~ of this year?
Please let me know if there is anything else you need from me at this time.
Sincemly,
