Review of Previous Minutes Minutes from 9/30 meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Karen McLaughlin
Southold Town Senior Karen and Holly returned to Fishers Island on
Services Report 10/15 to meet with the senior lunch group and to continue to assess
needs and develop strategies for Island residents to have access to
needed services. Discussed Medicare Part D enrollment 11/15-12/31.
Karen will assist seniors in need, but encourages seniors who are
computer savvy to utilize website. Support can also be obtained through
HICAP, see schedule for local libraries. H1N1 vaccinations will be
given to priority groups. Must call for screening, appt. 11/19 Peconic
Rec Center, 12/19 St Agnes Church.
Jean DeLorme
: Dr Pflaster presented at the last caregiver support
group with excellent response.
Phyllis Markopoulos
: Collaborative work with SOS continues, seniors
attending the Wellness Series with good response.
Lynne Richards
: 10/30 105 individuals signed up for the costume party
at the Soundview.11/14 trip to see South Pacific and dinner in Little
Italy
Mental Health Integration Next Wellness Series on 11/6 Memory Loss: What’s Normal, What’s
Grant Not. 11/10 Geriatric Mental Health Conference at Atlantis Marine
Senior Options and Solutions World, conf is free, please register. Karen and Juliet presented to the
strategic planning board at ELIH on 10/20. Juliet/ South Oaks are
discussing provision of telepsych pilot project with one local PCP.
Jay Slotkin, MD
Agency Reports : LIGEC will be providing a program on Opiate Use
on 12/2. His office is transitioning to an electronic medical record. San

Simeon hopes to open the new medical model program in Feb/March
2010.
Nancy Gray
: More seniors seem to be utilizing alternative health
options. Eastern Sun is now offering ½ hour messages. Additional
service information including Tai Chi and Qi Gong classes provided.
Daphne Shuttleworth
: Fundraiser benefiting LI Alzheimer’s Assoc. on
10/11 had over 300 people.
Holly Rhodes-Teague
: HEAP will open up on 11/2. Please call 853-
8200 for applications.
Pegi OrsinoBruce Petrucci
introduced who will be our new RSVP
contact on the East End. He will also be utilizing the new community
services room at the Southold Senior Center.
Bob Smith
: Provided information on the Senior Health Program for
homebound individuals with multiple skilled needs.

Administrators spoke to the group about Medicaid eligibility for
long-term care.
Our next 2 scheduled meeting dates will be changed due to the
Holiday schedule. We will have a combined Nov/Dec meeting on
12/16 at 1:30 pm.
