HomeMy WebLinkAboutLP-03/10/1992SOUTHOLD TOWN LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Present were: Art Ross, Chairman Gerry Dennehy, Member Dick Ryan, Member Bud Cybulski Doug McGahan, Member John Simicich, Member A regular meeting of the Southold Town Land-Preservation Committee was held on Tuesday, March 10, 1992 at 7:30 p.m. at Southold Town Hall. A motion was made by Dick Ryan to accept, as read, the Minutes of the February 4, 1992 meeting. The motion was seconded by Bud Cybulski and all were in favor. The committee discussed the recommended appraisals that were forwarded to the Town Board for approval. Andy Stype will update Moelius, Zuhoski, Berkman and Pugliese. Michael Gorman will do the Courtenay appraisal. Patrick Given will do the Dickerson parcels. Richard Winters will do the appraisals on the Herbert O. Cassidy and San Andres Vineyard parcels. Gerry Dennehy called Arthur Kunz's office and asked that they send a copy of the January 28th Minutes of the Farm Select Committee. There doesn't seem to be any current support for the purchase of agricultural land by the County. Regarding the John P. Krupski Bros. property - Stanley Krupski would like the Town to buy the fee on this property. Art will write to Mr. Krupski telling him that this property has Iow priority with the committee. The committee discussed the following: FACTORS FOR COMMITTEE DELIBERATION STATUTE OTHER "In bona fide agriculural production." "Conserve, protect and encourage improvement of prime agricultural lands for both production of food and preservation of open space." 1. Ten acres of more 2. Current production 3. Reasonably accessible (O.$. factor) 4. Resident farmer 5. Probability of development 6. Proximity to other property under protection from non-farmland use 7. Physical characteristics and/or impairments 8. Readily available for transfer 9. Visibility - scenic 10. Fertility - soil quality The next committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 1992 at 7:30 p.m. With no further business to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, ~ M.
