Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 Monthly Report Date: October 2009 · On going trail maintenance on Laurel Lake, Downs Farm, Arshamomaque, Arshamomaque Pond, Dam Pond and Mill Road Preserves. · Planted trees and shrubs at the Animal Shelter that were donated to the Town by Trimble's Nursery and Northeast Nursery. · The demolition of the house and pool/pool house has been completed at the Bittner Preserve and the contractor has started with the dismantling of the bulkhead. · Site inspection of Town property, off of Cox Neck Road, Mattituck, in reference to a complaint to the Police Department of a dirt bike track on the property. Property has been posted and the dirt berms have been removed. · Working with the Highway Department to renovate the "Horse Barn" as a workshop/storage area for DPW. Several interior walls have been removed, shelves and lights added. · Meetings in reference to Streetlight Reconciliation Project with a completion date scheduled for September 2009. · Attended a meeting in reference to the MS4 Stormwater Program. · Attended a meeting on the Peconic School Renovation Plan. · Attended a 2010 Town Budget meeting with the Supervisor and a follow up meeting with several Town Board members. · Meetings with Melissa Spiro in reference to several stewardship projects at Laurel Lake, Mill Road, Dam Pond Preserves. The 2010 Deer Management Program has started and 19 deer have been harvested, as of November 2, 2009. The total of 2008 was 7, so we are off to a good start. · The flashing light and speed indicator signs for the Mattituck School, on Route 25, have been installed. This project is funded by a grant from NYSDOT. · Re-seeded the disturbed areas around the house that was removed, as part of the Laurel lake Preserve Project. · Re-seeded the sports playing fields at Strawberry Fields Fairgrounds and the Football field at Coehran Park. · Gave the Cutehogue School, 5th grade classes a tour (4) of Fort Corehaug, highlighting its importance as a National Park Service Landmark. · Attended the final meeting of the Suffolk County Aquaculture Lease Advisory Committee. A "Final Report" has been released and the program is schedule to begin on November 12, 2009. This committee was established by the Suffolk County Legislature in 2004. · Aerated the soccer fields at Strawberry Fields Fairgrounds and the football field at Coehran Park. · Attended a Cell Tower meeting with Town Board members, Planning Department staff and the Town Attorney. · Attended a meeting with the Local Waterfront Revitalization Committee. · Changed all of the air filters at the Animal Shelter and set-up a maintenance schedule for changing the filters · Attended a meeting of the Stormwater Committee. Preparing applications for permits for several proposed projects. · Coordinated the delivery of 5 mooring anchors to Fishers Island. · Attended several meetings with Phillip Beltz in reference to the 2010 Community Development Block Grant Program and Budget. · Started the reconstruction of the stairs and sidewalk repairs at the easterly entrance to Town Hall and the side entrance to the Meeting Hall.
