LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING - JUNE 21, 1999
MINUTES
New Business: Member Vacancy
Vacancy is to be filled by Ray Huntington.
Reappointment of standing members.
Sidor:
Mr. Sidor has been in contact with Peconic Land Trust. Members of
PLT (Andy Johnson was present) had an informal meeting at Mr. Sidor's
home and discussed the best potential use and the COP process.
Mr. Sidor had questions about necessary setbacks and building usages,
if land were to be used for a future winery. Other questions Mr. Sidor
had were about the development of lots along Wickham Avenue,
Dick Ryan had questions about a 20 ft. easement (possibly a slope ease-
ment or wide fill easement) adjacent to Rte. 48, owned by Suffolk County.
Other questions raised were about the recharge basin and what is the
county's future usage plan?
A motion for the COP process was raised by Noreen McKenna and seconded
by Jim Pimm. Motion was passed.
Scott:
Hoot Sherman is working on Scott's COP plan, Scotts also had some questions
about mist~nderstanding regarding ag-district taxes. They have an odd-
shaped lot because Mrs. Scott wants to continue her pony rides. 39.76 total
acres for puchase of development rights, and keep development rights intact
on approximately 4 acres.
PLT will meet with her again before next meeting.
Dick Ryan said to proceed with appraisal but had reservations about the
Van Tuyl survey, felt there may be possible problems with survey. Revise
plan for next month's meeting.

DiBartolo:
Interested in selling development rights or conservation easement. Questions
about land usage as it is right now; DEC wetlands. Melissa will coordinate
with trustees for further info, maps, etc. Land was bought in 1994 for
$210,000 with a house lot.
Dunn:
The committee questioned who Donna Geraghty was representing? They
felt waterfront property would be necessary for the deal to move forward.
Newman:
Mattituck Inlet behind Jimmy King. Dick received a letter that states a
builder is interested and willing to purchase this site for $1.3 million.
Dick will call the supposed builder for further information.
Reinhardt:
Mr. Reinhardt contacted Dick about some questions regarding his farm.
$chriber:
Melissa brought up conversation regarding east-west road, 50 ft. easement,
discussion followed regarding the development of a road to connect Soundview
Avenue to Duck Pond Road.
Ernst:
Appraiser to start work.
Conwa¥:
Solicited Stype and Abatelli for appraisals. Committee wants this to move
forward quickly.
Discussion about soliciting Helinski's farm just west of the Conway farm.
Other Business;
Committee would like an inventory of the farmland in the Town. Also,
committee has been allowed to commission appraisals.
PLT Business:
Macari-Laurel I-ake - contracts are being drawn up now, subdivision will
start soon. 51 acres will be preserved.

Dam Pond - Orient:
Still alive, recent offer was not accepted. Working on different tact,
give up bargain sale, try gift. More news forthcoming. Planning
Board will speak with owners soon.
As secretary was absent, minutes were taken by Reed Jarvis.
