Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 Fax (516) 765-1823 Telephone (516) 765-1800 I..,AND PRESERVATION COMMII'¥£E TOWN OF SOUTHOLD LAND PRESERVATION COMMITTEE MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 25, 1999 MINUTES Present were: Dick Ryan, Joe Krukowski, Reed Jarvis, Fred Lee, Noreen McKenna, Jean , Brian Murphy, Melissa Spiro, Hoot Sherman, Tim Caufield, Ray Huntington, Greg Yakaboski and Sandra Scott. Dick Ryan introduced all of the attendees. Noreen McKenna has been in contact with Mrs. Scott, who brought in a survey map of the property she is submitting for development rights purchase. It is agriculturally zoned. Mrs. Scott was told that the committee would review it. Since there is a question re- garding the farmstand, it was suggested that Noreen contact her again and find out exactly what she wants. Also, it was suggested that she speak to the Planning Department. Supervisor Cochran was contacted re: the property next to Hollister's. Also, Skip Goldsmith is interested in selling the boatyard property near Founders' Landing. Jean thought it would be a possibility for the Park District. Also, the Mattituck Inlet property owned by the Lone Star Corp. They wanted to know what could be done with the property. Jean asked Melissa to look into this. Jean also said there are two slots open on the Suffolk County Farm Select Committee. Reed Jarvis said he would like to join. Jean will contact a few of the farmers to see if they are interested. Greg Yakaboski spoke to the committee regarding the process of the purchasing of development rights. Melissa suggested that the Planning Board should see the survey map for the subdivision process. -2- Michael Niamontakis application - Hoot Sherman will contact Mr. Niamontakis the next time he is out here. Jean Cochran is scheduling a meeting on February 4, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. with the Nature Conservancy and the Peconic Land Trust to discuss grants and matching funds. The members of the Land Preservation Committee are welcome to attend. Member Vacancy - Mary Bess Phillips has only attended one meeting since she was appointed to the committee. Supervisor Cochran wrote to her on December 28, 1998, but has heard nothing from her. Another member is needed for the committee. Jean will follow through with this. Anna Fill McKay application - this property is not included on the plan. It is woodland. Dick will contact her. Edward Henry application - the committee reviewed the application and was not interested in this parcel. Dick will contact the owner. The next meeting of the Land Preservation Committee is scheduled for Monday, February 22, 1999 at 7:30 p.m. With no further business to be conducted, the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 p.m. _~e Mspectfully submitted, · Wilkins Secretary
