RE:
Request for Water Map Amendment
SCTM #1000~94-1-7 (855 Soundview Avenue, Mattituck, NY)
Dear Ms. Landau:
The Town Board of the Town of Southold has received and considered your
letter dated July 17, 2009, requesting an amendment to the Town's water map so that
public water would be available on your property. The Town's policy has traditionally
been to avoid piecemeal amendments to the water map, unless there are compelling
circumstances that require such an amendment, such as a compromised on-site water
well that cannot be remedied with proper water treatment.
As such, please provide the Town Board with additional information that
illustrates the necessity of amending the water map.
Thank you for your attention,
JNIk

RE:
Request for Water Map Amendment
SCTM #1000-94-1-7 (855 Soundview Avenue, Mattituck, NY)
Dear Ms. Landau:
The Town Board of the Town of Southold has received and considered your
letter dated April 6, 2011, requesting permission from the Town Board to obtain "Town
water". At the outset, it is noted that public water is provided by the Suffolk County
Water Authority. However, the Town has adopted a Water Map, designating priority
areas for public water. As such, your request for "Town water" was treated as a request
for an amendment to the Town of Southold Water Map.
As you have been made aware, the Town's policy has traditionally been to avoid
piecemeal amendments to the Water Map, unless there are compelling circumstances
that require such an amendment, such as a compromised on-site water well that cannot
be remedied with proper water treatment. The letter from the Department of Health
Services dated February 18, 2011, confirms that no such circumstances exist and that
the drinking water supply on site is treatable. Therefore, the Town Board has denied
your request and will not commence the process of amending the Water Map at this
time.
Thank you for your attention.
