Below you will find a list of all the events that have taken place at the Human Resource Center
(HRC) during the month of September 2009. The events have been divided into three categories,
which include Health Promotion, Presentations/Special Events and Staff Activities.
Health Promotion

1. On site Hearing Screenings by Audiologist from Peconic ENT on September 1.*
2. Senior Wellness Education Series Presentation “The Worry Workshop: A brief guide to

reducing worry and stress in your life” on September 4.

3. Nutrition Classes with Ellen Rackow of Cornell Cooperative Extension on September 9,

4. Blood Pressure Clinic on September 15.

5. Caregivers Support meeting on September 15.

6. Tai Chi & Qi Gong Exercise Workshops with Denise Gilles on September 4, 11, 18

7. Seniors taken to the Southold Town Recreation Center for Flu Shots on September 29.
8. Senior Wellness Education Presentation “All About Arthritis” by Nancy Simington,

Presentation/Special Events

1. Trip to Riverhead Farmers Market on September 10 for seniors to utilize Farmers
Market Coupons issued from SCOFA.
2. On site Elder Law assistance with George Roach, Esq. Chief Attorney of the Senior

Citizen Division of Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County on September 9.

3. “Karaoke with Tommy D” which included singing and dancing on September 24.
Staff Activities
1. Program Staff members attended monthly Health Care Issues and Services for Seniors

Committee Meeting on September 30.
The weekly computer class and movie continued throughout the month of September. *Hearing
stst
Tests will be offered monthly on the 1.Thursday of each month starting October 1. ** The
Nutrition classes are a series of lessons over an eight-week period and seniors receive a nutrition
