I am writing this letter on behalf of Mr, and Mrs. William Schneider, Island View Lane,
Greenport, NY (SCTM #1000-53-6-p/o 46-1).
Mr. and Mrs. Schneider are currently part-time residents of the North Fork but are
presently planning to enlarge their small home so that they may retire here within the next
few years.
In June 1990 they purchased a piece of property from a minor subdivision from Edwin
Latson which you approved on May 14, 1990. This piece of property adjoins their
property at the northerly line.
Due to their proximity to the bay, they are unable to add to the water side of their home.
Subsequently they had plans drawn to add 12 feet to the north side of their home for
which they received a building permit. They now realize that due to the proximity to the
bay and the low elevation of the property, they would be unable to have a full depth
basement. This results in the need for a garage addition as a storage facility. The new
proposed addition would require 12 additional feet to the length of the addition for a total
of 24 feet.
The problem occurs with an easement granted to the Village of Greenport for water lines,
and to the Town of Southold for a possible future road located at the southern most point
of the property purchased from Edwin Latson. The new addition would extend
approximately 10 feet into the 15' portion granted to the Village of Greenport. Upon
checking with the Village of Greenport, they have said that they would accommodate Mr.
and Mrs. Schneider if they used their own money to move the water line within the limit of
their easement. The Schneiders have agreed to the Village of Greenport's request based
on approval and receipt of a building permit by the Town of Southold.

The Schneiders have stated that they have no additional intentions of ever adding a pool,
storage shed, or any other type of structure to the northerly side of their existing house.
The attached site plan shows the proposed house addition along with a proposed 50'
easement that would be granted to the Town of Southold. The Village of Greenport
easement and the existing bordering 16' right-of-way would remain unchanged.
Based upon the acceptance and approval by neighboring property owners who will be
effected by the change in easement location along with any additional requirements
requested by the Town of Southold, the Schneiders are asking for your cooperation
regarding this matter.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Acceptance by Neighboring Property Owner:
I have read the above request and have reviewed the attached site
plan and grant permission to Mr. and Mrs. William Schneider to proceed with the
proposed 24' addition to the north side of their house.
