Box 1179 Southold, New York 11971 TELEPHONE (516) 765-1801 SPECIAL PERMIT In accordance with Chapter 27, Section 27.1.B. of the Code of the Town of Southold, the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby grants the Mattituck Lioness Club a Special Permit to hold their Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 3, 1987, on the Town-owned property on the north side of' Main Road, Laurel, provided they secure and file with the Town Clerk a Certificate of Insurance naming the Town of Southold as an additional insured. Dated: August 11, 1987. By Order of the Southold Town Board. Judith T. Terry $outhold Town Clerl~ MA~'FITUCK LIONESS CLUB Mattituck, New York 11952 August 9, 1987 Southold Town Board Main Road Southold, NY 11971 Dear Board Members: Please consider this letter a request to use Town-owned property, (the ballfields) on the north side of Main Road, Laurel, immediately west of the railroad trestle. Our Lioness Club of Mattituck is considering running a Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 3, 1987. Proceeds would be used for charitable purposes. Lions Inter- national has as its main emphasis, sight and hearing conservation. Our Lioness Club has established local charitable concerns as our first priority in tandem with the goals of Lions International. In our six years of service, the needs of the East End have been first in our efforts, and we are proud of accomplishments to date. Our proposed idea is to offer local products for sale and for on-site consumption. We would develop some added interest by having contests that could be entered by our local farmers, our school children and perhaps even by scout troops, packs or youth clubs as group entries. We would hope that local craftspeople or artisans might buy booth space and provide not only their products for sale but some might also provide mini lessons or demonstrations. We also plan to contact our local farmers with the idea that they set up farm stands. Lastly, we would like to see our wineries participate with wine tastings and general information about our newest industry. Our tentative idea is to begin about 11 a.m. and close approximately between 4 and 5 p.m. We see this Festival potentially as the start of something "big," but even more importantly--as a means of advertising our Club and our Town while earning funds for charity. We trust you will approve our request and be able to offer us assistance in other small ways.
