Chapter 27 Bazaars, Fairs, ,Carnivals, Circuses and Public Shows and Entertainments Section 27.1. Certain entertainments prohibited; permits required. A. To preserve public peace and good order and to prevent tumultuous assemblages, all public outdoor shows and entertainment, including, but not limited to, bazaars, fairs, carnivals and circuses are prohibited in the Town of Southold. B. Nothing herein or in the foregoing shall apply to bazaars, fairs, carnivals, circuses and other public outdoor shows and entertainments that are approved in writing by the Town Clerk and held in the Town under ,the sole management and for~ .the profit of local fraternal, charitable or religious organizations. Shal] have received a permit from the Town Clerk. 2. Shall have an inspection and approval by an inspector from the Building Department prior to the event for which the tent is to be used; The inspection should be scheduled, through the Building Department, during regular business hours. .Inspection The inspection shall consist of at least the following items. Proper exiting provisions to a public way. Tents over 400 square feet shall be made of flame- proofed materials. A certificate attesting to the fact shall be avai]able on site for inspection. All electrical supply shall be ground fault interrupted (GFI) at the source. 4. Tent stakes shall be capped or covered in such way to present no hazard to the public. 5. No cooking shall be conducted under the tent. 6. All exiting aisles shall be maintained at minimum of three (3) feet wide. If the event under the tent is conducted after dark, emergency exit lighting shall be provided. Guy ropes shall not pass through exit paths unless maintained more than seven (7) feet above grade· Tent stakes shall not be in exit paths, 9. As in the past, this dinner and tasting will benefit the Stony Brook Foundation for Lyme disease research. Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend this year's event with many first-time visitors to Long Island. The Lenz Winery respectfully requests permission to hold such a large assembly in Southold Township. The assistance and cooperation of your office have contributed greatly to the ~_~.success of the past two Barrel Tastings and we hope to achieve the same this August. Please advise on the correct measures the Winery should take to insure another ~ssmooth outing. Any instructions may be directed to Tom Morgan at the Lenz Winery (734-6010) or to the Long Island Wine Council's Phil Nugent ( 475-5492 ). We are eager to prepare for this big evening and would like to comply with any of our clerical obligations as soon as possible. On a much smaller scale, the Lenz Winery is holding a wine tasting that will feature Chardonnay from over 70 international producers on Saturday, July 25th. California, France, Italy, South America and other areas will be represented in our courtyard located in one of America's great wine regions, the North Fork. The wine tasting runs from 5pm until 7:30pm and we anticipate approximately 400 people to attend. Shall have received a permit from the Town Clerk. shall have an inspection and approval by an inspector from the Building Department prior to the event for which the tent is to be used. The inspection should be scheduled, through the Building Department, during regular business hours. Inspection The inspection shall consist of at least the following items. 1. Proper exiting provisions to a public way. Tents over 400 square feet shall be made of flame- proofed materials. A certificate attesting to the fact shall be available on site for inspection. 3. All electrical supply shall be ground fault interrupted (GFI) at the source. 4. Tent stakes shall be capped or covered in such way to present no hazard to the public. 5. No cooking shall be conducted under the tent. All exiting aisles shall be maintained at minimum of three (3) feet wide. If the event under the tent is conducted after dark, emergency exit lighting shall be provided. Guy ropes shall not pass through exit paths unless maintained more than seven (7) feet above grade. Tent stakes shall not be in exit paths· 9. Fire extinguisher(s) in the proper number shall be provided according to the size of the tent· Tents 7/91
