Owner, Tolendal Inn 12250 Main Road Mattituck, New York 11952 Dear Mr. Blaikie: The Southold Town Board authorized the issuance of the enclosed Special Licenses for events to be held on the Tolendal Inn property on June 15, 1987 and July 17, 1987. Please provide this office with Certifii:ates of Insurance, naming the Town of Southold as additional insured, well in advance of the events. Thank you for your cooperation. Very truly yours, Judith T. Terry Southold Town Clerk Enclosures (2) 12250 Main Road Mattituck, New York 11952 516-298-5399 RECEIVED ,qPR 1 7 1987 $outhald Town Clerk To: THE SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD April 17, 1987 As President of DEVAAKA Realty Corporation, Inc. and owner of D/B/A Tolendal Inn, located at 12250 Main Road, Rte. 25, Mattituck, I request permission from the Southold Town Board for the follow- ing under section 100-114C Southold Town Code: 1) To erect a tent (80x160) on the front parking lot of the forementioned property in order to hold a benefit dance for the Friends of Sacred Heart School on July 17, 1987. This event would run from approxi- mately 8pm to 1 am. The insides of the Tolendal Inn will not be used at all except for the foyer and the bathrooms (additional portable bathrooms would also be supplied). This benefit will draw about 1000-1100 people and will raise between$6000-$7000. for the Friends of Sacred Heart School. This tent will cause the loss of only 37 parking spaces. There will be tables and chairs for everyone; a d~nce floor and a bandst.~n.d. The dance will feature a band called the "Greaseband which has~,~rge crowds to the Tolendal this past winter for the benefit of Sacred Heart.. This band does not draw a "rough" crowd since it plays music from the 1950's. The average age, I guess, has been between 35-45 years old. 2) To erect a tent (40x80) on the north side of the Tolendal Inn for the purpose of a fund raiser for the Bummy Hudson Open Scholarship Fund. This event would be a closed-circuit telecast of a professional boxing match on the evenij~g of June 15, 1987. The Bummy Hudson Open has donated more thar~10,000, in scholarship monies to students from the Mattituck-Cutchogue High School over the past 8 years. This amount is greater than any other organi- zation and this year will start donating monies to students at Southold High Schobl and Greenport High School. This event will take place inside the Tolendal Inn (app. 450 people) and under the tent (app. 200 people). The parking will be ~ffected by the loss of only 20 car spaces. The property is zoned correctly for these typ~ of events- many properties that hold these type functions in our town are not. I am asking for this "exception" without really knowing if this is an "exception". The tents are made with fire resistant material (see attached documentation) and additional fire extinguishers would be placed at locations suggested by the Building Department. There will be sides on the tent only to prevent inclement weather from affecting 12250 Main Road Mattituck, New York 11952 516-298-5399 PAGE 2 the events and for security - approximately 30% of the sides would be totally open ( which sides depends on the weather ) and none of the sides would secured "hard" to the ground in order to leave easy escape in case of a problem. The perimeter of the tents would be "policed" by the Tolendal Inn employees and/or Friends of Sacred Heart School and/or members of the Bummy Hudson Committee. The parking lots on the property would be used to their fullest. There is also new public parking within 150 feet of the property - thenew parking lot behind Love Lane (90 cars) and parking is also permitted on 90% of the public roads in the area. If necessary, transfer buses would be employed to transfer people to and from other "public" parking in the area. Ail Permits required by the NYS Liquor Authority will be procured by the Tolendal Inn and delivered to the Southold Town Police Headquarters one week prior to each event. If permission is truely required from the Board, we request it under 100-114C, Southold Town Code.
